All I know is, that Gamers (including me) think FromSoft are absolutely unparelleled, but there's no way Sony is dropping that cash just for Miyazaki. It's just the way people within our echo chamber have heard of the story. Makes for a good headline, but a terrible business decision.

If either Sony or Tencent want to buy a continent, they will. Either way, I don't care. I liked Sekiro and Dark Souls trilogy but Elden Ring was nothing but an overrated Dark Souls 4 wannabe. Good game but not deserving of THIS much praise

According to this YouTuber, there is beef between Sony Japan and Sony America he basic says that the Japan branch is not happy with the west how their recent games have been perfumed and Sony Japan wants to go back to making games by Japan Studios

If either Sony or Tencent want to buy a continent, they will.

Oh don't get me wrong, both have stupid money and could probably just buy the whole of Japan if they want. But that's the thing, if they want FromSoft, they would buy FromSoft. They already own some of FromSoft anyway (hence Bloodborne).

But that's why, the fact they're buying Kadokawa, is clearly not solely about FromSoft.
Gamers trick themselves into thinking of Sony as a Gaming Company, because we mostly associate them through PlayStation. But, to Sony, a move like buying a Publisher isn't about the gaming market. It's about what other businesses it Publishes. This isn't Microsoft buying Bungie or something akin to that.

And I know @DoverDad mentions a TenCent battle, but I've seen no reports of TenCent being interested. They own a slice of FromSoft, I think, but haven't expressed interest in Kadokawa.... At least that I'm aware of. But, I'm just a bear, so who knows.

Heard it few days ago about Sony (and it's to buy Kadokawa, which FromSoft is only a tiny part) but nothing about Tencent yet. (they do own part of FromSoft ... but they own about 10% - and more - of every single company of the industry)

Real question is will Japan's SEC allow Sony or Tencent to buy it?
Still intresting on how they will sell it either just Fromsoft or will they need to buy the entire parent company kadokawa.

Kadokawa officially confirmed the offer from Sony. They have yet to answer

No idea how right or wrong this guy is, but that clearly is how a lot of consumers feels.
Sony still have strong records with their internal studios even in the west though (forget about Concord !)
