honestly if either side was willing to work in good faith with fact based ideas rather than emotionally based propaganda there would be no significant issues. unfortunately bad faith actors are driving the divide for political brownie points over getting anything done.
realistically what we have is a major culture issue with violence being pushed as the only "manly" response to disputes. the "other" side is wrong and evil and only lies so no trying to talk things out, the government cant be trusted, the police are either absent/incompetent or out to get you. so since you are on your own all thats left is to force the "others" to your way of thinking.

but hey lets all waste all our time and resources arguing over 1 specific tool used in the violence im sure that will fix everything . . . .

Yeah - it's awful when people throw out incendiary language and then expect those with alternative views to respond otherwise. It shows an extreme lack of intellect and honesty on the part of such individuals.

Random question for the crowd:

What are folks' opinions on coffee beers? Personally I'm typically a fan. Lots of dark stouts or porters benefit from some beans in the brew, adding a lovely bitter roasty thing. But a few local brewers also do lighter beers. There's a coffee kolsch a bar near me has that is... weird, but tasty?

Though I've also had coffee beers that were not great, fully admit that too.

I like almost all beers. I don't think I've tasted a coffee beer. I do have a favorite beer though. Free.

My former roommate fell into this. He got a job as a mechanic with some real right-wing types (like, Alex Jones was on the shop radio, weird place) and while he didn't quite go off THAT cliff, he did start collecting guns.

My most vivid memory of this is one time he came out to visit, and asked if we could stop at a local gun shop. I find guns interesting from a historical and engineering standpoint, so why not. We go in, I get distracted by something, and a few minutes later he's paying for a new pistol. We get back in my car to go to lunch and he starts loading the fucking thing and tucks it in his pants.

Just... what?!?

Over here we can't just get guns, so I'm kinda shocked that a person would do something like that...
And I just imagine the gun firing, when he tucks it into his pants...
