So, the week end is about staying inside where it's warm and trying to recover.

ooh, I have a question for the LC north americanos!

In the last few years I've come to realize that my snobbishness against american whisky/whiskey might have been misguided. So, I have tried a few, and have been pleasantly surprised. I can say that I have only tried bourbons, no sourmash or rye afaik.

So I need tips on nice and not superexpensive bourbons, and perhaps other american whiskeys too.

To give an idea about my palate, I will name a few I have tried and what I thought of them:

Woodford Reserve: Favourite so far. Smooth and nice. I'd might even say sophisticated. On par with Johnnie Walkers Black, not in profile but in pleasure.

Bulliet Bourbon: I like this one, though Woodford is better.

Knob Creek: Like this one too, on par with Bulleit
Knob Creek Smoked Maple: This was a weird one. I really thought getting more maple in the taste would make it just better. But no, it is just WAY too much smokey mapliness for me, totally overloaded. That is, when drinking it straight on the rocks. However, in a drink it can work well. But not worth it over the regular Knob Creek.

Makers Mark: ok, but a little too rough or "thorny" in the aftertaste maybe? Will probably not buy again if I can find Bulleit or Woodford.

Jack Daniels: No. Just no. Actually JD is the reason I was so set against american whisky for so long.

Looking back on the account in question, I see that it interacted more back-and-forth a few months back, so could also just be someone that maybe goes up and down over time in their social interactions. I mean, I would not want to be judged as human/non-human based on my social interactions, eheheh *coughs in autism*

I do have that ebb and flow in how much I interact. Part life&work&that.
There's two things that need to be in place:
- I have to have some surplus energy to interact, it is an effort. A very small one in the grand scheme of things, but still
- More important probably, I need to feel I have something to say. Be it something I am particularly interested in, something I know well, etc.

I do try to steer away from making clickbaity, vacuous posts when I do engage though..

Some of it comes down to motivation. If you're working towards P4, and interaction is contributing to that, you find ways to engage in the conversation.

When that happens to me I blame it on my sleepwalking extracurriculars

What is "super expensive" to you? I'm a whisky fan, mostly Scotch whiskys, but I've been trying American whiskeys for a couple years, where I can get them. I like the Joseph Magnus for a quality whiskey that is easier to get, at about $100USD for their 12 year, the youngest they export, I think. A lower end, but nice enough whiskey is Bib and Tucker Small Batch at about $90USD but they sell a cheaper 6 year for about $50USD. This would have a milder flavor like the Woodford, though I like the Woodford Reserve which you listed better.

The Woodford that most people try is a young whiskey, that doesn't have a lot of the flavor the aged whiskeys have, so its more palatable to most people. If you like that, go for one of their double casked or batch selected whiskeys to see if you like the extra flavor of them (I don't remember what they actually call them, but they have more flavor), or try the Joseph Magnus whiskey. They age in a variety of casks (like the Woodford I mentioned) so there are hints of the sherry and congnac. So far, the Joseph Magnus is my favorite bourbon, but I'm looking for others.
