I think the mentality has changed because there are so many games now that people don't play one singleplayer game for months like they used to. So nobody is going to complete the game once, then play it again and wander around the overworld before entering the final dungeon and stumble across more endgame side content, they finish it once and then they move on to something else. Plus a lot of people have some game as a service to play even if there aren't any new games that they'll prefer over replaying a single player game.
One of the benefits of being older is from childhood I was used to playing a single game for months, now when I purchase a game, I look to see if it's something I will play for months. I have a philosophy that I want at least $1 per hour invested in a game. So that shiny new star wars game better give me 60 hours of entertainment...as I know it won't, it can wait for a sale to a point that I will get my moneys worth. For example Icarus I bought on sale earlier this year, then I bought all the expansions because at a $100 price point, but I've put over 300 hours in it, the entertainment value has been worth it.

If I was to buy the new Call of Duty, if there even is a campaign anymore, it would be over in max 20 hours normally, and I don't play anything besides coop now, that I "lose" money.

A little frustrated that something has to break with the site every time they try to improve it... whoops, I mean

Problem is shorter games for higher price.
Yeah, I refuse to buy games for $70. I'll just wait for a sale or a 3rd party site that has it cheaper on launch

You guys do know that there are sites like this one but for normie games right?
So you don't have to pay any monies

Honestly one of the biggest problems is they are trying to wow you with graphics instead of content. The original call of duty in 2003 had three separate campaigns with a good story for each. Now you get a half assed campaign that tries to funnel you to multiplayer where they will try to bleed you dry with microtransactions THAT AREN'T MICRO AT ALL NOW.

Yes I know, but I like to support indie game developers that actually try. I will support completed or near completed adult games. I don't support greedy fucks on either side. If you offer me a game, I'll pay you one time for it. Adult or not.

Yeah, I remember the great old days of Civilization. I know it's still there but I haven't played in some time. Things like Starfield have this New Game + thing that didn't really work for them to keep people interested in running through it again. I think you're right that people have changed gears to develop and/or play them for shorter periods. It's a shame as far as I'm concerned.

I think I could convince myself to pay $70 for a game if it also wasn't going to shove micro transactions in my face every 30seconds. You can't forget about the monthly battle pass with limited skins so you get that premium FOMO

Also new releases for games have terrible performance 9/10 times now

I honestly don't know why, but firefox reminds me of netscape navigator, who I used to replace internet explorer until it died a painful death.

Chrome browsers have never felt right to me, I've tried several, and hated them all.

good luck with that! i am always excited near so many holes!

for me game length is not the issue, but the quality and lack of creativity having been completely killed off in the industry in favor of games that are not having much of any quit moments for most people combined with microtransactions alongside getting a "full" game for super ultra gold mega sucker edition. i am okay with short games, while i do not have the economy to support good devs to buying their games full price. games i pirate and enjoy i as many others here will end up buying. to me a 6 hour game full of killer is far superior to a 60 hour shopping list grindfest open world game

Maybe they only pirate AVNs since they don't want traces of it in their gaming accounts haha
But you're missing out on the 3 days early access to be a beta tester if you don't get the super ultra deluxe edition
Never really buy games generally unless they are on sale.
Most games is just get a pirate version and maybe in a few years when it is on a big sale and I want to replay it I buy it.
