As for your off the top of the head answers I had the same thought process as you towards pale carnations and eternum but tried them because so many people were raving about it on the other site and I was happily surprised to find they were right. Ugh false hero dev disappeared? dang I'm getting some sad news about games I like today

The first five or so HS games that I tried were total shit, so I got very biased towards it.
I only tried them because I kept seeing people praise Once in a Lifetime. Then I went to Eternum, Pale Carnations, Ripples, a House in the Rift... All games I enjoyed.
If you have more recomendations of some that I might've missed, I accept it.
Mist is on the list, but didn't got to try it yet.

dang I need to keep better tabs on things I didn't know either of those were so long from their last update, I have them both on my watchlist

Apartment 69 the dev said he has 3 scenes to do for the update, so that will probably be another year or so. Love and Submission hasn't had an update in 4-5 years, Dev just vanished, so either, dead, skipped the country or @conzibald got him and is keeping him in a hole somewhere.

I played Now and Then years ago I think it was ok, looks like its complete now. And is rated pretty high. It's a dad/daughter game set in a zombie apocalypse if that's your thing
