Dumb maybe but everyone's got to get paid. I think part of the reason we got the James McAvoy X-Men movies was because they needed to do something with the rights before they lapsed back to Marvel. I know there is an expiration date on these sort of deals where if you haven't done anything with them after a certain amount of time they return to the original IP holder.
I'm fairly certain money is why there was a period of time where it was looking like the Disney/Sony deal was going to fall through. I think it was sometime around the release of Far From Home if I remember right though I could be mistaken.
Yeah, I think I've settled on this now. A series that is these days a little obscure yet has been so influential. Though I was also considering 'Bear' from Person of Interest. Could still be convinced maybe.
