Honestly, the average american doesn't have the ability to switch to the metric system... it requires ability to adapt and set aside idiosyncrasies...
Does it make sense to standardize units of measurement with the rest of the world? Yes, that's why it's taught at the college level.
But the average person won't accept it because it requires admitting that the U.S. is wrong and the rest of the world is right and there no democracy in this century would tolerate such an unpopular measure

We don't like it because we can't picture it without converting - which the conversion is often not easy to do in one's head (or remember how it's done.) I can imagine how a temperature feels hearing it in F, not in C. Same with length in US vs metric units, weight, etc. Liquid volume a bit different as wine/liquor (not beer) is sold in metric as are large soda bottles (2 and 3 Liter) - smaller are in US units. Medication is also in milligrams.

Since freedom units are so ingrained in people's daily lives I don't think America will ever switch to the metric system, which is fair enough. I don't think I could imagine myself switching to imperial either.

i live in a country that metric is standard, since the 1970's i believe, i worked in the construction biz all my life, the only metric I've used is when building on or to the property line or when setting the concrete footings for a home or building as to be 100% precise.
every interior job is imperial measurements & the dozens of measuring tapes i own are all imperial. (except the 100 meter reel used for outdoor work which has millimetres on it too)

so I'm versed in both, i also do scientific things as hobbies & metric is the only way to go when doing scientific calculations.
there is no way to measure a micron (μm) in imperial measurements. which is one-millionth of a meter (10⁻⁶ m).

oh man, this is the same country that removed the silent "E" in many words & last names because it was easier to spell LOL
and removed the "U" from all British spelling to distance themselves from the monarchy.

Hey, genuinely don't know where to ask this but- how does the content in Games + being behind a membership barrier prevent constant takedowns that happen on other sites? And even then, it seems very arbitrary when sites remove games for breaking their 'rules' even though the loli/shota categories still exist in many, and also have similar, if not the same features of gameplay that get others removed.

this is a public thread seen by anyone, even people that do not have an account & web crawler bots that index the data
this may not be the place to ask this & IMHO is better off removed from this thread because one can never be too paranoid in today's world

Just to correct you here: you don't need the M+ to use dms, I got the M+ today and yesterday I had already exchanged dms with another user. Unless it's a bug.
