I'm not following the world cup but is USA still in? I thought they looked down on soccer and didn't have a proper team
They were still in when you asked. You're right, soccer is not a popular sport in the USA. I think Gridiron Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Ice Hockey are all more popular team sports in the states.

They have a proper team, but you're right that it isn't their focus.

USA got out against belgium. I would say they got thrashed, the score line was 4-1
It's not too surprising when you consider that there are fewer than 1 major league soccer team per state in the USA.

Also, the academy systems in Europe are a lot better than in the US. While the US relies on a pay-to-play system, the European academies do not. It's how a lot of the older current US stars ended up in Europe.

Whose was modded and stared at quite oft.
Though pointy each breast,
Fans still deemed her the best—
And she kept many dicks aloft.

Probably because in most of the world the best (male) athletes tend to go into soccer. In the US the best go for American Football, baseball or basketball.
Good morning and happy Taco Tuesday.

I don't like soccer. I know my country's national team didn't qualify because, let's be honest, they're terrible and aren't even a shadow of what they used to be—at their peak, they beat Argentina twice in the Copa América.

But if you look beyond men’s soccer, the women’s team is actually pretty good—incredibly superior to the men’s team in every way—and we even have an American football team that I didn’t even know we had. They’re called “Los Condores,” and as far as I know, they’ve had some great results. It’s funny, but when I started looking into sports and activities outside of soccer, it turned out that my country has some very well-ranked teams and athletes.

Although... honestly, I don't really care that much; I'm not into sports.

soccer, full of corruption, it's a shame, depends who you live but in most case this is violent, just for a sport...

Still not as violent as American football. There's a reason it's one of the few sports that doesn't require a form of locomotion that requires a helmet.

soccer is not violent, this is the public, mentality
american football is violent, after 40 years.. mental injuries

It's hilarious how overt the corruption is now. I remember seeing an African team get a goal or two stolen like a decade back and everyone I talked to got into my face proclaiming their justification.

It was also fun when I was in Spain like a couple of years ago and I was the only one in my group that did not have a jersey for the pub crawl.

I've noticed a few things that are messed up, people referring to Hockey as Ice Hockey is strange & since the site changed to no longer giving those who reacted to comments coins that 85% of people no longer react to posts.

another thing is those who refer to a few things & than only put two things that they are talking about.

In other parts of the world, the non-ice variety of hockey is common. I like clear language.

Hmm. One would hope that people continue reacting often, since it's part of the system. When that was the main way to get coins, we got lots of reactions, which was good.

Another part of this, I think, is that the number of active users has gone down. The image threads (specifically the daily ones) are where this is unfortunately most obvious. While there used to seemingly be consistently double-digit counts of prompt responses, some current prompts struggle to reach even half a dozen. I will admit that I'm part of the problem, as while I was consistently posting responses, I've barely posted any in like the last month or so.

The main cause for this, I think, is that when both ATF and Azkosel's were down/closed off, and their futures were uncertain, a lot of their users migrated over here, causing the active user count to swell. When both of those sites eventually came back for good, I think a good chunk of those same people shifted back to using only those sites instead and brought some new users along with them, causing the active user count to shrink. I know at least one of the people who joined this site around the same time I did (and was responsible for providing a lot of likes) seems to have shifted over, even though they didn't originally come from either of those sites. I also think this site being in a consistent state of flux in terms of features for a bit didn't help matters and may have put off some.

One would hope that people continue reacting often, since it's part of the system
I will also admit that I'm a part of this problem as well and should really start liking posts more again instead of mostly silently lurking, like I have been doing recently.

Yeah, Field Hockey is a thing. Played on grass with hockey sticks - using a ball IIRC. Generally a girl's sport.
Good morning and happy Wednesday.

Hello, I'm new here and have no idea what I'm doing lol. Based on a cursory glance of how things are going on this site right now it looks like the road to Member+ is going to be a very long road indeed. well we'll see how far I get.
