Hello chord, good thing DubbleU was here, I had no idea, but yeah, I'm sceptical of remaster/remakes too.

I actually like them, when it's not like 1-2 years since the original release, those are basically just definitive editions. Unless it's on console and a better, newer version of a great game, transitioned to newer less limited hardware.

Spoiler: my opinion

I think The Last of Us Part 1, the remake is excellent. Looking forward to the Gothic and Fable remakes, I've generally like the Resident Evil stuff, even 3, solely because of the gameplay in it. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake was good, infact I've basically liked all of the DQ remakes over the years, and the Tales of franchise has good remasters/remakes, with the exception of the PS4 version of Symphonia being worse than the PS3 version. Suikoden Remaster was good. Kingdom of Amalur was good and Mass Effect had a good remaster collection, if you ignore them being bitches and removing certain camera angles.

One of my favorite remasters was Persona 1 on PSP. Since we got the original JP version translated, quality of life stuff, and all of the edited and cut content added back in, with the exception of the music. In fact, I also liked Persona 3 remake. I also think the PSP version of Final Fantasy 1,2, and 4 are my favorite remakes of those games. The Phantasy Star 1 and 2 remakes on PS2 were great, sad they canceled Phantasy Star 4 when they did the Sega Ages remakes, since it's my favorite in the series.

Overall with data preservation and them cracking down on stuff they no longer sell or make money from and the cost of older games rising, I'm more than happy with remasters, take what you can get some times. Especially if they fix problems with the original and make the experience better in the end.

Nope. Haven't touched a thing but I noticed it after I did my name change so I went into my notifications settings, made a single change - saved, and then reverted it back and saved again. Haven't noticed an issue since, so it might have just been some weirdness from that?

@KaySwitchPrime mentioned that might have been the cause and it seems like maybe it was.

Good that it's fixed, just seems like a wierd thing to happen.
