I was mostly joking, but I think the tatami measurement is a common practice and the house selling Japanese websites use to add the tatami distribution on the house plan. I don't know, but I have the feeling in a ryokan rooms will have also that measurement. The use of gou is still there, even if the bottle is labeled in metric system. You will notice sake bottles measure 720 ml that's a weird number in Western.
I'm not sure of the word is accurate to describe a metric system. Once the measure is fixed, If we decide that 10 gou = 1 Shou = 1.8 liters, that will have the same degree of precision. It's just a convention.

That's a shame. When I learned about the tatami measurement in my visit to Japan it surprised me how much easy was to visualize the proportions of a room than the metric system that I was so used. Tatami are more intuitive than meters.

There is different member status that can be bought with points. When you arrive you're just a regular user. Then you can be member +, premium 1, premium 2, premium 3 and premium 4, each with spending more point and each with some privileges.

Yes I realise. I was just tease him about it. Personally, If people want read back through all posts then good for them. I find hard to get past page 1 or 2 at best before I get lost but good for those who go really far. I take Underlord statements as humor and nothing serious lol. Thats why poor fellow is underlord. maybe offer a carrot to him. it usually helps sometimes lol

O agree, but most still will understand it and even the tatami mats are still measured this way to make perfect fit. I had new one make for my living room and the professionals measured in the tatami and it fit perfect, so it is still really decent way to measure. especially these very old homes, which are not the same as newer ones.
