I'm definitely pro animation but not having it isn't a deal breaker.

Animation if FPS is good , sometimes the animation is slow and its sucks :/

Animation is a bonus for engaging story.

Animations look better but also have the trade off of taking a lot longer

It's not a deal breaker, but animations are always appreciated. However if the animations are just bad, then I'd rather have none.

I've dropped games that have horrendous animation, and many updates later haven't changed. It just ruins the entire mood for me.

Depends if its not choppy , there have been some great games ruined by choppy animations

Totally! if the animation frame rate is awful then it just takes the engagement out the window, I would much rather prefer a HQ image/render
I may get stoned by the people for this opinion but Summertime Saga is the first game that comes to mind when i think about "choppy" or lackluster animations

Animated if possible and if the quality of the animation is high enough. If, however, the animations are shit, stick to images.

Animation as long as the animation is good

Wait.. people on this site have a high opinion for summertime saga? Merits of the work aside dude who makes it is scamming his patrons with bs promises and zero delivery.

Eh im new to the site but from what i heard on other sides some people defend the game with their life

I'm new here too lol and I could see why people could defend it based off the game itself. I just know that the dudes Patron is raking in thousands and the game is updated slowly.

Honestly i dont get why people like it , i played for a bit but when i saw the "animations" if you can even call 2 or 3 images switching an animation i stopped playing

Neah, that's not an animation, at least not a proper one. Quality animations are rare, most people just dump short 3 frame loops and call it a day.

I don't even mean for them to add quality animations because i get they can get expensive but at least more than 2-3 frames per animation , its not much to ask for from a game that gets thousand of dollars and slow updates

The main point of adding them is to brag "This game has animations" and rake a few more subscribers. People should be more discerning with the quality of the products they sponsor and hold the devs accountable for their promises. Unrelated, same thing happens with every game that advertises "Deep choices with consequences" and the result is "Do you want to see or skip this scene?"

Exactly , one game that actually deserves praise is "Kaiju princess" (the first one , i havent gotten to the sequel yet) , good animations with a decent plot or if you want something more wholesome "Teaching feelings" but the animations are lackluster too but the game doesnt advertise itself on animations

Games with animation are always the best, but sometimes there are good games that don’t have animation.

animated games are the best man, wish there was way more 2d animated games.
