For now, mime and apollo have full control over LC and will be handling site decisions going forward. I’m stepping back from making site changes for now and letting them decide how to move LC forward. - Jack Of Blades

One of the things that I really like in a game is when you can set or adjust the age of the characters.
Unfortunately that seems to be not common, even less so with out some hard coded restrictions.

I looked and I couldn't find a thread that seems to address it.
There for, what are some of your favourite games where ages can be modified.

That seems exceptionally pointless to me. Almost as pointless as a slider for how attractive a character is (with no changes to the renders). Or is there a single game where this actually has an effect other than perhaps the number appearing on some profile page?

Well you could say the same about any user input. Why do lots of people like the ability to set the name of the MC, let alone determining the names of LI's or for that matter, being able to set the relationships between characters? Or why do so many games allow for how you get addressed by certain characters as master, daddy, papi, sir.....?

In most cases it helps with the immersion as well as being able to address certain kinks that one might have.

I think it is a clever way of getting around censorship, but if the author can just say the character's age I prefer it. It bothers me when I don't know the canon age or put in a value only to find out later in the game it doesn't make any sense.

Those are actually strings that appear in the text all the time. I never want to change these either. In fact, I am annoyed by the questions (especially when they are repeated in the gallery), and even more when there aren't even default names. (Very bad case I encountered yesterday: No default name for MC. No default name for his youngest daughter. No default name for his eldest daughter. No default name for his wife.) These things should be handled via settings or patches, not by bothering everyone.

But as much as these cases annoy me, they at least make sense. The MC's name appears above the MC's thoughts and utterances all the time, and sometimes other characters address him by name. But characters' ages are almost never mentioned explicitly in text.

I just don't see the point. An age fetish that isn't about actual persons and personalities but about abstract numbers?

most games have the youngest LI as 18yo even if they should be (act) younger. And I like it when I can adjust the age to what it feels right for the character. In Fake Father (Ok-ish game) I set the age for the youngest daughter to 16 if I remember correctly, in Midlife Crisis (loved this one) to 17. And there are many more games where the standard age does not reflect the behavior of the character. So, I am pro adjustable age ;)

I always change the name of the MC and if I don't get to choose I make a patch or change it in the script. And for me the numbers should reflect the "actual persons and personalities" at least to a degree or it brakes immersion. At least for me.
And I like the possibility to change names, but there should always be a default name so you can click through without thinking too much.

It didn't escape my notice that that's probably the reason, but I still think it's pointless. If the developer adds a profile page with an age >= 18 for every character to get plausible deniability, what forces you to 1) look at that profile page (which is usually quite pointless), and 2) take the age seriously? It's not really part of the game. It's in what would have been part of the printed manual a few decades ago.

You get it.
Indeed in Midlife crisis it even goes further, your niece doesn't look nor act like an +18yr old.
Same in other games, especially if at certain times the age gets mentioned in the dialog it can be a turn on for those of us that have an 'age' kink.
Besides that, it also creates a more immersive game. I for one find it jarring to play a game as being someone that isn't in college yet and having younger sisters that are ALSO 18.

While playing the game, where do you see the ages? I can understand why people want to see their own name displayed instead of the MC's in something like this:
"Paul MC: Drop your pants!"
In the same way I could make sense of it if you wanted to correct the age in something like this:
"Lolita (age 18): Teacher, please give me a good grade so I can go to a better high school after leaving elementary school!"
or
"Lolita: Fred, on Saturday I am celebrating my 19th birthday. Would you come, please?"
But I have never seen anything like this. Are there actually games that do this? If not, how does an invisible number contribute to immersion?

If there is a profile page with an age I go into the code and change it if possible :ROFLMAO:

Even if i don't take it seriously it still brakes immersion for me, I can`t change that. I know this is somewhat stupid but it is what it is. Those little things are important for my experience and enjoyment of a game.

1/ Not all kinks are for all people

2/ Just like you have people that find being address as a sibling, parents, master, etc during the act exciting, there are people that find it a turn on when a (taboo) age gets mentioned. In other words, if a woman not only addresses them as 'daddy', 'brother', 'son' but also ask them about how they for instance enjoy their 'insert age' body it adds a little spice.

3/ In other words, sure, setting the age and it never being actually used in descriptive text or dialog at occasional points would be silly. In that case it would be like setting relationships which are then never used at all during the game. I have seen games where you can set the relationship and then... the female character gets address only by her name. Something like that is indeed pointless.

To those of us that do like the 'age' setting thing. Please let me know which game you would recommend.
Be it that it does it natively or for which a patch exists.

Some do, most don't. But that is not the point. If the age is mentioned it should be realistic or in the beginning adjustable.
And I can't change the fakt that those things change how I feel the game. I'm weird, I know.

I know there are some but I can't remember most.

of the top oh my head:
Rick and Morty: Another Way Home
and I thought in PF too

Im think few devs did those kind of things like adjustable age or relationships because of patreon.

I love this you put out a statement with a question, the question gets ignored and everyone comments on the statement. LOL

I bookmarked this thread and will post every game I play with that feature (if I remember ;) )

remembered some...
Games with age setting:

Rick and Morty: Another Way Home
Proud Father
Christmas Eve
SaSP
Corrupted Love
Little green hill
The Guardian
Midlife Crisis
Radiant
Apocalypse

will update this post when I remember more...

TBH if they are trying to present an underage character and they don't want to make it an issue, just don't add the age at all. why say this 14-year-old freshman that goes to high school is 18 at all? just don't bring up the age

Do you mean for the bodies to be adjusted by age as well ?
