It's a great premise but a lot of the time it can get dropped really quickly in fiction, when it does it always feels really superficial and pointless that it was included in the first place
A lot of people honestly just want the easiest, simplest plug and play device they can put fifa or GTA on. You'd be surprised how many console only gamers have never even heard of steam, unfortunately there'll always be a large sector of the gaming population that will never want to tinker with...
Usually for the mechanics of the game. If a game has things like character customization I'll come back to it time and time again, whereas a bunch of remade renpy VNs can be finished in half an hour and leave you wanting.
I'm not even here for the piracy, but that is a bonus. Between patreons, itch's dumbass decisions even before removing content, steam dumpster diving and trawling through mountains of dodgy sites for links, it's nice to find somewhere with people consistently uploading and an active community...
It's become more....sanitized over the years, over moderation. A lot of the community engagement is gone. Adverts everywhere. Hell the moderation team are complete hypocrites, they'll ban you for posting NSFW on a blue board while having OF content advertised on the same page
Yeah 4chan's been far too tame nowadays, I remember when it used to be a schizo paradise but like with everything it's been heavily neutered once monetization got involved😡
Just wanna say its a great thing that places like this exist. Yeah the stuff that's hosted might not be everyone's preference, but surely if there's a market they should be allowed to appeal to it. It's really upsetting that we can't get big budget H-games because a bunch of pearl clutchers...
