+1 on Story of Your Life, it's a short story (only 20ish pages iirc) but it and all the other included stories are worth reading! And the movie is awesome too, it's Denis Villeneuve's best film imo
His best film indeed.... but only until Lisan al-Gaib shows us a better way later this year! lol

On that note, the first three Dune books are great too- really long, but good (from what I've heard they're very hit or miss after that, but I haven't read them for myself so ┐(´ー`)┌ )

I read "A Fire Upon the Deep" recently, and it's readable but intelligent high scifi adventure with a rollercoaster of a narrative. Definitely recommend it.

Warhammer 40k ciphas cain book. Cain is basicaly an anime protagonist in grimdark 40k world and unlike those patethic self insert mc. Cain is actually has depth in his character. He maybe a coward but what is courage if it not about stand up and charge at your fear head on with chainsword at hand while constanly shitting your pants.

Gaunts ghosts are a good serious 40k series, but Cain is awesome (particularly IS he a coward or have massive imposter syndrome)

so i want to ask you all for book recommendations! so far i found out i really like ''mountain man'' books by keith c. blackmoore (made it to book 5)
i also gave it a try to ''he who fights with monsters'' wich was pretty interesting at the start but it kinda lost me for a bit
also if it help, here are some of my favorite stories/lore ever:

any suggestion is welcome, be it sfw/nsfw, audiobook, a fanfic even!

I think Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer could really work for you, it's a great non-fiction book. It shares that survivalist, introspective feel. The MC is kind-of "flawed" in a way that reminded me a bit of Disco Elysium / Better Call Saul type writing.

If you were in the mood for something darker/stranger instead, You Like It Darker by Stephen King would be my other recommendation. it’s mostly short stories with some slightly surreal tone.

If you're big on video games and simple power fantasy stories you would probably like the Cradle series. Shabby kid starts from nothing and becomes one of the most powerful martial artists in existence

Refining Precious Metal Wastes by C.M. Hoke

for the laymen, teaches how to recover & refine gold, silver & platinum group metals + more
original printing, 1940

watch this dude do his thing

As already referenced above, Frank Herbert's Dune series is a life-changing read. 6 books out of a planned 7. His son wrote the final and some prequel/spinoffs with other author(s). I'm just recommending the core 6. Some people dislike the second half of the series, but they're my favorite re-reads most of the time.

I have no mouth and I must scream by Harlan Ellison is worth a shot if you like scifi and horror, it has some games based off of it too

hello! i am a pretty uneducated dude in what reading books is concerned, i get my entertainment and stories from games and series almost exclusively, yet this year i finally wanted to give reading actual books a try.
problem for me is i dont really have friends that read stuff outside of the classic harry potter, lord of the rings, self help or how to make money books and the like, so they cant really recommend something i would like.

pmd explorers of sky
disco elysium
13 sentinels: aegis rim
umineko when they cry
lisa: the painful
yakuza 0
the good place
Final fantasy Xiv: shadowbringers
better call saul/breaking bad
Adventure time
the wolf among us

any suggestion is welcome, be it sfw/nsfw, audiobook, a fanfic even!
the monstrumologist by rick yancy is a fantastic read, its psyochological horror.

Ive been really into the Diskworld series by Terry Prachett. Its very witty fantasy comedy. Id start with The color of Magic and The Light Fantastic as an intro to the setting and way he writes. All his books are bangers.
