  • Donation Rewards & Vault Credit System Update
A new important update has been posted covering the Donation Rewards bug, the reset of incorrect Donation and Platinum credits, the upcoming reclaim system for previous tracked donations, and the new Vault freeze/maintenance behavior. The goal is to remove bug-generated credits, protect real donation history, and rebuild the system in a cleaner and safer way going forward. - Jack Of Blades

This is the only website I have ever been to where some pages just start eating away at my CPU. It's only happened in the last few months, around the time the more heavily animated avatars started being allowed, so that may be it right there. I'll get to a page, I'll hear my fans and AIO ramp up, I'll check CPU temps and my overall temp will be in the 60's. I'd expect this in a game, but on a website? I'm running a 5800X3D, they do get a little warm, but Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't get it going this hard.

Is anyone else seeing that temp spike?

Yes, that's why I deactivated the user styles in the preferences many months ago.

No more flashy postbits, no more blinking names. No more roaring gpu fan. ;)

Excellent, thank you. I keep meaning to look for something like this, but I get distracted by shiny objects.

Can confirm, this was pushing CPU temps up even on higher end hardware, to the point I knew if I was logged in to LC or not by the fan noise

Turning off user styles cut down temps and fan speed a ton, thx. Used to badly optimized games doing this, never seen a website push it this way before lol

You need to remove your heatsink and apply thermal paste to it. Especially if you have never done that before. Websites should NOT be ramping up your cpu temp and fan speed. My computer sits at 33-35 when browsing websites (even this one right now). Playing games it gets up to about 60-75 depending on the game..

Still, that should not make your computer struggle. Maybe it's time for checking and cleaning the fans and removing dust.

I never thought anyone else would reply to this post. These issues did happen way back then, and simply turning off those features solved the issue.

A little bit of dust wouldn't cause those kinds of spikes. My system didn't struggle, just got really warm when it really shouldn't. I had only had the 5800X3D a few months at that point, and I gave the case I was using back then a thorough cleaning. Since the CPU was a recent install, the paste was very fresh as well.

Since the big revamp of the site, I haven't checked those settings, but I am seeing a lot more animations than I used to. I am guessing they fixed whatever was causing that power draw since my fans stay quiet now. I have a new case and better fans now, but they can still ramp up under load. Just not a load from this site.

Good to hear your issue is solved. I think we will see a lot of old threads being revived as new users rush to get the coins they need for members+ (I am also guilty).
