morning everyone! i realize now that it shows the fact i have viewed your profile to you, do not feel alarmed if i have viewed your profile, i am not stalking you...... exclusively. i am stalking everyone here equally
all of your profiles have enlightened me as to how barren mine is. i will have to give myself a "glow up" as i believe it is called, some time.
Here is the thing it is unlikely to get better either way so you would be waiting for a long time if you do not buy.
Overall, if you really need to update and your current one is dying or have problems you will just have to eat the cost.
Best cast scenario is you wait for a sale of some sort of event and find the one you want with the specs and reliability.
Buy one that will last as least 3-5 years so mid to high range, than a low end one.
It all ends in the question of do I really need it now and is my current one still good to last me a few years and hopefully prices get back to reasonable levels.

Prices are only going to keep going up for at least the next 2 years is my guess, so unless your need can wait that long, now would be the best time to buy. That's the attitude I am taking as I need a new graphics card but it will be a few months before I can pull the trigger, there might not even be stock available then
It's absolutely better than a Steamdeck. It has better/faster hardware, a larger screen, a full Windows OS (can play any game, not just steam games), and the sides detach like joy-cons... but wait there's more! The "joy-cons" have a toggle switch that lets them be used as an optical mouse so you can do actual keyboard+mouse FPS gaming on any surface. Oh, and better battery life.
I'm super happy with the device. I have a steamdeck and don't use it at all anymore.
There's no skill involved in slots. It's pure luck. One reason I wouldn't try - I always had terrible luck. So much so when I was a kid I sang that fa-la-la Xmas song as "fu-uh-uh-uh-uh-uck luck."
Man waaaay back in the day I managed my Dad's books for a year. He was addicted to gambling but only played slots. There was a huge amount of money in and out of that account and casinos but when all was said and done he consistently came out ahead. I don't know if he just has uncanny luck or if there is a method to the madness.
I heard somewhere that Nvidia have cut production of 50 series cards due to them increasing production of their AI chips and AMD don't have a contender to go against the 5090, can't really see prices coming down anytime soon unfortunately.
Yeah, AI needs more chips and memory than basically anyone else. They also have more money, so the companies that gamers funded for decades are leaving us.

It is crazy to think parents exist on forums like these. I don't mean this in any rude way at all I swear! It just is a fact of life I have not come to terms to yet....

I don't think it's crazy for them to be here. The games, banter, and everything else on this site is fiction.
As an example, I've played plenty of GTA games, and I really don't want to do most of the stuff that I love doing in game. I pick up hookers in GTA games, but I have zero desire to do that in real life. In GTA, you fight with gangs, cops, etc. and I have zero desire to do that in real life. In plenty of games, I get a good laugh getting my characters fucked up on drugs and alcohol, but I don't want to get anywhere near those levels of fucked up in real life.
What I think you've somehow missed here is that for many of us (most, I hope), this is all fictional stuff.
I also watch some of the silly pornos where step-family stuff happens. It's fun, funny, and taboo in the videos. I have zero interest in doing anything with someone who raised me, I was raised with, or I'd be raising. Zero.

Yeah of course! I meant no harm and didn't think any of you would do that. As someone who is fairly young-ish I just recently got into college and joined a few forums for the first time I just have a very naive viewpoint of things.

This may be a "me" thing too and I promise I am not an evil heartless person to preface this, but it is kind of hard to imagine my online friends and peers having lives too. For example it is shocking to come to that realization every now and then that "wow they're not typing because they are doing something" maybe it's from playing too many singleplayer games haha

It's just diggleton rant time now but I genuinely am not even interested in the big L of mem+ I mainly want to upload and love to have full access to stuff I am a horrible completionist.
This may be a "me" thing too and I promise I am not an evil heartless person to preface this, but it is kind of hard to imagine my online friends and peers having lives too.
