Hello! I'm the developer of Heartstrings.

The post is pretty out of date. Right now there is a public version v0.2.3.1, which you can find on my Itch.io:

I also have SubscribeStar, which is not included in the main post:

There is no Android version at the moment. I am getting a lot of requests for it and I should release one. The thing is, the Android version will almost certainly be a reduced version of the game, without mini-games and probably with gameplay limited to a few days.

This is because the game will have quite complex mini-games that I am preparing, since by doing it with Unity I can do much more elaborate things than you can see in RenPy, and making the controls portable for PC and Android is hell.

And it would be limited to a few days because the game is going to end up having a lot of content and I doubt that everything will fit on Android, so, since I couldn't release a full version in that format, I prefer to leave it as a long demo to whet your appetite and get you interested in playing the full version on PC.

Oh, thank you very much for your help.

I didn't know I had to notify with a report. I'll keep that in mind for the next update.

Tomorrow I'll ask you to give me the Developer badge and I'll also request authorship of the post. (y)

I've got a fair amount of experience with Unity and Android. If you are interested, i could help with an android port. I think we could lower image resolution, add buttons and/or controller support for fairly complex uses, and potentially be able to release a full game. It may require users to have modern phones but ive made pretty demanding 3D demos that run on my 2 year old phone very well.

It seems like the vertical synchronization issue has been resolved in v0.2.4. I'd give it another try

Played it last year and it had potential but it really needs a cheat-mod to enjoy playing it.

Hey, thank you very much for the proposal. I could significantly reduce the build size myself, but in the long run I'm not sure if it would end up becoming too large anyway. As for the controls, it would be quite complicated. For example, this is one of the minigames I'm currently working on:

You must be registered to see media

And I have other minigames that are very different from this one, so separate controls would have to be made for each of them. Some of them are minigames that need to be played with two hands, or that would be quite complicated to adapt to Android, not just because of adding Android controls, but simply due to gameplay issues.

Anyway, I'm going to try to get as far as I can with the port, and if you're willing to help me, I can ask you things when I run into problems. Join my Discord so we can stay in touch.

First i dont see anything with this card game that couldn't be done on Android , locations and layout of items would likely need to change for visibility but otherwise it could be done. I could definitely give you some pointers on touch controls or buttons, but i dont really have that stuff memorized. I usually dive into Unity examples or find some of my old code for certain aspects.
Could you split the game into chapters to keep build size reasonable ? Honestly its not a bad idea for the PC version to keep your size small and easy to manage.
Ill look into joining your Discord soon and chatting with you.

Well, things seem easy, but then when you get down to it... That's when the oh my gosh moments come. :ROFLMAO:

I might be able to split the game into several parts, but I'm not sure yet. However, I'm sure it would complicate things a bit.

Ok! See you on Discord!

You can fix the vertical synchronization problem simply by increasing the graphics quality to high+. It will not affect performance, and vertical synchronization is enabled in that graphics configuration. :D

I'm very glad you liked it. :giggle:

The game has a cheat menu (only for skills at the moment), but it's for private versions.

Right now, with tier 1, the lowest tier, you can access private version v0.2.3.1, which is the version that's currently public, but with cheats. With tier 2, you can access version v0.2.4.1, which continues the story with another scene and also has cheats.

Or, if you can wait, a few weeks before v0.2.5 is released, I will make version v0.2.4.1 available for tier 1.
