I don't mind a wealthy character (Like Friends in Need, which is one of my favs), but make it interesting if he is. If he isn't wealthy or doesn't have a job, then lives like he's upper middle class or better...WTH?I don't think there's any reason you couldn't tell a very interesting story about someone without giving them a deus ex machina wealth glitch. And really, plenty of games do exactly that- if anything, a character having normal money worries opens up story possibilities as they try to resolve/manage them.
