Yikes! Insane, if it's really a police encounter... Unless that's just an excuse to walk away from the game. Either way, sucks for us.

I'd say it's legit, no idea if it was AVN-related or not (I doubt it, and I didn't know him offline so who knows what else he was into) but he pretty much walked away (well, put on indefinite hold) from it like almost a year before that so that didn't seem like a good reason to make it up. It was originally put on hold probably for the usual reason: unrealistic expectations. He probably didn't make enough money fast enough to quit his day job to work on AVNs full time like he hoped (which usually takes multiple completed AVNs that don't suck and a few years and even then most day jobs will still pay more if they are not loli-incest ones on SS).

I'm not surprised no one wants to port a dead game. No idea what happened to the dev either, other than last anyone heard it was similar to Westygate with the police "fucking him".

It's kind of a double-edged sword for AVNs. Being more well-known/popular can mean making more money and maybe others offering to help make the game. However, it also means you're more likely to be discovered by the site content moderators and/or authorities if you're creating something against the site's rules or the laws where you live.

It's similar to how Patreon used to allow incest, mind control/non-consensual, and loli to some extent when it first started because it wasn't very well known. It was because they got known enough for Paypal to notice (or be unable to continue turning a blind eye to) and have a problem with adult content like those examples being associated with them that it threatened to stop doing business with Patreon if they didn't start blocking/removing that content. If you weren't around when it was just starting out, they used to be like SubscribeStar, advertising things like complete artistic freedom and basically no censorship beyond the standard kind you expect everywhere (i.e. real-life **, criminal activity, etc.). It was only because of Paypal's threat that they changed their TOS and started cracking down on it.

I've said it like 100x before but they should have just gave a middle finger to Paypal and started processing their own damned payments with direct bank transactions (which anyone can do worldwide with just account/routing numbers if they are not in countries the gov't specifically bans transactions with, like North Korea). Dunno why they didn't and kept their spine and balls. Users would have been just giving bank info direct to Patreon instead of Paypal and left out those meddling middlemen, and sub payments and payouts would be handled just the same from user ends: direct credits/debits from their bank accounts. I mean now that Paypal has not only banned all porn and even shit like buying/selling condoms and sex toys online why hasn't Patreon yet? They might as well at this point, so then all AVN devs can just move to Backed.by and be done with it and be free to make whatever the fuck they want (crypto only, so theoretically fuck the law too if set up right).
