This...really got me confused. Isn't necro-posting the act of making a really old and forgotten post come back from the dead? Like, you go and comment on an old and forgotten post and then it rises up to the most recent ones?

We call that 'backreading' around these parts.

But yes, that's acceptable, as long as it's a reply to something which provides context.
We don't need random posts clogging up this cesspool.
