kinda formatted the wrong hard drive which had my passwords, was hoping someone has an effective one. I've tried a few like R studio data recovery and also disk drill but I got weird files that I could not open. the format was a quick one and I was hoping I could recover a small text file. in youtube videos whenever someone uses a program they get complete and correct format files and I'm kinda angry about it because I get weird files.

any help would be greatly appreciated

It's not strange you're getting messed up files, you just have to hope there are proper files as well. When you delete a file and part of the freed memory us used for something else, it doesn't look fully like a proper file anymore.

The recovery program would rather restore too much than too little, so it tries to restore anything it deems file-like, which includes a ton of garbage, hopefully in addition to some actual files.

But how important are these passwords? If they're of vital importance, I'd look into professional services. Every time you attempt something with the drive you run a risk of overwriten the password file.

Or I'd disconnect the disk and practice with another disk so you have the procedure down before attempting to restore from the actual disk.

Recover files only to another disk. Do not write anything to the disk with the deleted files, it is even better to mount it in read-only mode.

When I read the title, I was going to suggest Viagra.

I managed to recover a lot by myself because I was connected to my real email and other accounts, so changing passwords was simple. however, on this site I no longer have access to my password so I lost my p4 and p5 access. can't even see games+ at this point.

how do I turn it into a proper file? on youtube videos people just scan and get they get full normal files, it's annoying that in my case I seem to get weird files. feels like all those programs are one big scam at this point.
