You mean like 10 .. like 10 fingers? But that's only base-10 aka the decimal system, you know that there are other numbering systems, right?
Base-8 for example would be 0-7 and you'd count 0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-10-11-12-13-14-15-16-17-20
And there are of course systems with more than 10, for example base-16 or hexadecimals where you have to add the letters A-F to counting after going through 0-9
Show me a number system in the world where 9 isn't the limit. I mean in terms of symbols. Even base 16... The numbers are replaced by letters. I mean is the a number higher than 10 that is written in numerical for and has it's own symbol that isn't a letter or something frawn from elswhere than numerology.

Recovering and getting better everyday now! I wish I could spend more time here with my friends <3

During all this process, I've been playing a lot with my Switch... How about you?

Thats because it's arabic numerals you are referring to, they are also just symbols just like letters. Just look at how romans counted with only 7 symbols and they only used what you'd call letters.
There are a lot more ways to count and just because we commonly only use 0-9 (+ maybe some letters) doesn't mean there arent .

Ok, enough nerding around, gtg, good night lewdies and gentlelewds, let the sleazebugs bite you.

You're talking about digits.

And I'm pretty sure the answer is that in the modern world we mostly use Arabic numerals, because our math and sciences are built on the groundwork of European and Arab scientists. Who in turn used Arabic numerals because they're really really convenient for doing math with in base 10. Which is the most common everyday system because it's very intuitive when you have 10 fingers.

And when it did become relevant to do math in other systems like hexadecimal, it was easier to use alphabet characters to make up the extras than to create entirely new characters.

There are other numeral systems- e.g. Roman numerals where you have less symbols and represent larger values with positioning- but you're just not likely to run across any of them in regular use.

I don't have 10 fingers, I only have 8 fingers and 2 thumbs, but I do have 10 toes.;)

As far as I'm concerned all thumbs are fingers but not all fingers are thumbs.

Unless @Evil Surgeon has been at it again...

I have never heard of opposable fingers, but I do have opposable thumbs.(y)

Hmmm, this is very interesting. I suppose they didn't want to make up new characters. But something is still off. I'm talking about the 3-6-9 rule. Everything in the world is encapsulated in that. Even with hexadecimal. Sure, there's "new characters", but hexadecimal as a name bind base 16 to being within 0-9 still. In terms of speach and our understanding of it. It is base 16 because it is 6+10=16. Hexa (6) and decimal (10). I'm saying even if its base 16 and has different characters that aren't 0-9, it still is ruled and governed by the fact that it is hexadecimal (10+6=16 making it base 16).
