I recently move game files to a new drive. Since I did this I have encountered the following issues. Any suggestions how to fix or why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.

Issue 1: when I download a update to a game, I am unable to get the update to load. I can open a previous save but it will stop at the end to the previous save and not allow me to continue with the new content. I have tried to replay the game from the beginning but still not able to continue with the new update.

Issue 2: many of the saves from previous games did not transfer to the new drive.

Again thanks for any help, suggestions.

I don't know about the saves, but the location should'nt change anything to updates, since games are generally portables. Just a directory where you run the .exe and everything is here to play.

Plus, i changed the directory myself once, for another "hard drive" (SSD actually), and had no issue with saves : i just dl the new version, put int in the new file, and plays it as usual, i found my old saves and played the new version.

So really, i don't see how you can have an issue with it, but i doubt it's about the directory.

How many games you tried this way ? Maybe the one(s) you updated had no more content but only bug fix ? Or maybe they were not even updated since the new update page still doesn't work and could lead you to mistake ?

Issue 1: It's hard to understand what you mean. Try to write in more detail, with an example. Maybe with screenshots. What game exactly?
Issue 2: For RenPy you need to copy the saves to a new drive. You can find your saves folder here:
Linux: ~/.renpy
Mac: ~/Library/RenPy
Windows: %APPDATA%/RenPy

Hopefully this helps anyone who might be able to help:
I got a new PC computer (windows 10), I moved the entire game folder where I saved my games to a portable drive.
When the new computer was operational, I again moved the game folder with all the games to another portable drive.
for some games (I have not checked all) the saves in each game would not work. Unfortunately I did not look in the game folder to see if they were there.
I recently downloaded the new update (8) for Family Faring. I opened the save for 7 (they in the game folder) and tried to continue with the new update. However, I can not get past the last scene in version 7 which is where I saved the game. The only option is to return to the main menu.
The same issue is happening for Sibling Delights. I can not play past my last saved save

You had to copy not only the games themselves but also the saves from your old PC (from %APPDATA%/RenPy).
For Family Faring I don't see an update only...so just in case I'll note that you need to unpack it not into the folder with the old version, but into a separate folder. Since you didn't copy all the saves, you'll have to copy "saves" folder from old ("FamilyFaring-Episode7-pc/game/") to the new version ("FamilyFaring-Episode8-pc/game/").
Maybe you are installing some outdated mods?

to clarify I had a game folder where I stored each individual game. I move the entire game folder which contained all the individual games.
would not the saves also move if you move the entire game folder?
I extracted the compressed family farting 8 into its own/new folder. I still have a family faring 7 folder and a family faring 8 folder

I decided to just delete my old folders of family faring, I downloaded a new version (version 8) and tried to play it. I got to the end of version 7 where Mateo tries to get Lilly to come into his home and was unable to proceed beyond this point. (ie end of episode 7). I am having the same issue with Sibling Delights in that I can not play the updates. I did not load any mods. What's happening?

Also where would I find "%APPDATA%/RenPy"

Maybe this path was not continued in this version?

Open File Explorer, type %AppData% in the address bar and press Enter. (C:\Users\<username>\AppData)
