I'd go to sleep, come back 6-7 hours later and 50 pages would be there. And yes, even a hundred or so.

I'd just slap on my backreading hat and get to it. I'm a read and react guy.. so.. I never tried to reply, just read everything and that's how I got through catching up.

Every time I see one of those ridiculous Japanese running styles, I get tempted to start laughing in a manner affirming my western superiority over those funny easterners. Then I remember that we have Tom Cruise... and the temptation passes.
