"The Final Blow."
The Gothic sky was starless. A heavy fog hung over Gotham. In the city's abandoned industrial district, Batman moved silently in his cape. Intelligence had whispered to him that a new threat had set foot in Gotham - but this was no ordinary enemy like the Joker or Bane. This time it was Victor Von Doom, the tyrant of his own universe.
Batman leapt over the edge of the roof and infiltrated the huge rusty factory. Inside, Doom was waiting for him - his armor gleaming slightly, his hands behind his back, as if he was unafraid.
"Welcome, Black Knight," Doom said, his voice ringing like a bell. "I have heard of your intelligence. Unfortunately, intelligence does not change destiny."
Without a word, Batman threw his EMP grenade at Doom. There was a flash of light, the machines went silent - but Doom only bowed his head slightly.
"I'm of advanced enough intelligence to be unaffected by the technologies on this planet," Doom said. He raised his hand. A sudden magnetic wave threw Batman backwards.
As he fell to the ground, Batman pulled another device from his belt: a special acid capsule. He splashed it on Doom's armor, but Doom again just laughed.
"You... are fighting. Admirable," Doom said, approaching slowly. "But in the wrong war."
Finally, Doom nailed Batman to the ground with energy chains from his armor. Batman tried with all his might to break the chains, but they were magical, woven with a power beyond physics.
"Any last words, Bruce Wayne?" Doom asked, looking arrogant behind his mask.
Batman stopped for a moment. A weak smile appeared on his face. "Mistakes... always start with arrogance," he said in a low voice.
Doom shook his head. "And it always ends in death."
With a wave of pure energy from his palm, Doom pierced Batman's chest. Batman's heart fluttered for a moment - and then went silent.
The cloak fell heavily to the ground.
Gotham lost another hero that night. But Doom's victory was only the beginning - because now it was time to bring the dark city to its knees.
