Yay, I just got my Members+ admittance ticket! 🥳

Well, it's still something one could call low creative, but it's a translation to english of a wordplay with my first name and something I really like (and which is commonly used as a nickname for girls with my name): Chamomile (or, when it's already taken, i use SoothingChamomile, which describes both the tea and my personality, but I think it's a bit too long)
Which one would you suggest using here? 🤔

I'm taking melatonin gummies, but they don't really do much. I guess that creating a routine and convincing myself that it will help could be having a slight placebo effect and making me a little bit more relaxed when going to bed

I actually haven't been diagnosed with anything (I haven't really sought for help about any of this), but I'm seeing a psychotherapist for a different reason and she made me fill up a questionnaire of a little bit more than 500 true/false questions about me (which I found extremely hard to answer to, since I hate absolutes and prefer when I can give an answer in the range "totally disagree" to "totally agree") and she told me something along the lines of "[...] with a slight depressive tendency" when reading the results to me (I had the feeling that she said it more slowly than the other parts). 🤷‍♀️

Anyways, I find it absurd that these tests only consider active su****al ideation and not the passive variant (thinking that if something bad happened to me, it would be okay and solve all my problems), which is how I sometimes feel

And let's not start talking about social anxiety, for example, I struggle even with just the thought of starting a conversation or saying hi to someone, even people I already know. And just awkwardly wait for them to interact with me first. I tend to listen rather than speaking because I just can't come up with what to say and I'm terrified of conflict, so I avoid certain topics and just shut up whenever I think my opinion (on anything) could be different than the other person

Mental health isn't talked about enough and is not widely understood. I take meds that help relieve my deep depression, got rid of most of my general anxiety and eliminated most of my suicidal ideation, but it's not a cure and I still struggle every day. What you wrote about social anxiety is how I would pretty much describe myself before meds. Still somewhat now. Hopefully you can get some guidance or assistance from your psychotherapist. 💚
A safe betting man for the most part but yeah. If you haven't watched "Honor among thieves" yet I recommend it. Has probably the coolest dragon I've seen in recent years.

But knowing myself, I doubt I could even find the courage to send a DM first (yeah, it's that bad), but when I start talking, I end up going overboard with how much I say

You're not alone in this fight, Kironos. There's more than a few of us that struggle every day with depression.

I've said it before in this thread but believe it or not I'm actually extremely anti-social. I'm an introvert with a pretty small social battery and despite having a wonderful and supportive family I struggle with depression every day and some days I quite literally need my wife to keep me moving forward.

Our little internet hangout is no substitute for help, either professional or the kind that can truly be there for you. It's no substitute for mediation or a replacement for not having what you need to make your life feel fulfilling.

However, I've found a home among the people I've met here. I hope you can meet some people too and have some fun with us goofballs.

Enough to maybe take the edge off some days. As both @KaySwitchPrime and @Dean Wincester told you already - we're a single post or DM away.

Having perspective and being supportive are both really good tools for helping others in that space. Plus being depressed and interacting with other depressed folk can sometimes work like an echo chamber or amplifier. It’s good to have outside people sometimes who are happy especially when you’re in a headspace of wanting to get away from the depression.

Lovely community here back reading on some of the mental health talk and I wouldn’t expect a forum like this to have such grounded and wholesome takes. Love y’all 😊❤️
