I agree and think they are unnecessary, if let's say a game has NTR as a tag and I don't like NTR, If I go into the game and get cucked, that's on me.
Is true that the warning can be bothersome, I remember some games that what it does is in the start of the game present you with the problematic fetishes that have (ex: trap, futa, NTR, etc...) and give you the opcion of desactive that scenes, that is a somewhat good way to do it.
I agree with options at the beginning of the game. The only way that a warning mid game works is if the game already breaks the 4th wall.
I kinda agree. It definitely kills the pace when putting them right before the scene. In my opinion the best way to do it it's too go through the game fetishes at the game start and let the player decide if they want to leave it on or off. If they already said yes you don't need to keep warning them every time, and if they said no it would never appear in the first place.
Yeah all of these responses I agree with. The warnings at the very start/in config are good. They let people who don't want to see some content turn that off. I can imagine that someone who hates NTR doesn't want to have to skip out on an amazing game just because of a handful of NTR scenes. The intro options are a good work-around. If all games had that, then the NTR option would already be off by the time an NTR scene would happen, so it can be auto-skipped and not ruin the flow of a scene or the gameplay. It is good for both people who want to skip or not skip, since either way no abrupt 4th wall break happens.Content Warnings and options in general can be a good option for giving more control to players and reducing the chances of them bashing the game for having content they don't like. However having the warning/options immediately before the scene is not preferred (though with how most of these games are developed episodically, I can see a one-time warning before the first scene in a new type of content). Ideally though the options should be presented in the initial configuration that most of these games have - or have the opt-in/out be in the settings menu.
You make a good case to standardize a settings toggle switch for "Enable/Disable Content Warnings"I'm certain most will think I'm crazy for this one, but I dislike when games have warnings such as "THIS SCENE CONTAINS [insert fetish], WOULD YOU LIKE TO SKIP?". I think they horrifically kill the pace of a game and scene when they show up. With that said, I can get behind most kinks, even if I'm not super into it. I've got no particular liking for feet, but games love to warn me about foot scenes when I would just rather hold ctrl or whatever than have my scene get broken up.
They also tend to ruin surprises a lot of the time. Sometimes it's exciting when something unexpected happens, and that itself can be a turn-on. I know things like NTR can get to some people, so I completely understand why most games prefer to have a huge warning slapped before the content, but for me personally I would like it to just keep going with the flow of the scene.
