I don't mind them, really.

I DO MIND WHEN THE FUCKING PUZZLE REQUIRE SEARCHING THE WEB FOR ANSWER.

I JUST WANTED TO FAP NOT THINKING YOU FUCK

I get it alright I get it. You wanted something else in your game like combat or some shit but this is a H-Game you don't need to try that hard, GOD.

I am in the same boat.
I really dislike games that offer no way around playing certain parts you don't want to.

For Ren'Py games I mostly look beforehand if there is a gallery included.
If it is not unlocked at the beginning, I unren the game and unlock it myself if there is no unlocker yet.
For others you can often find saves somewhere.

Yeah I think it can be fun to have simple puzzles, but anything complex should be optional at least.
I know they say guys "think with their dicks" but unfortunately it doesn't actually work like that.

I don't see the need for them, there are literally games made to do puzzles when you want to do puzzles and they do it very well. Takes me back to when games with shit controls would throw in some jumping puzzles that were rage inducing. I prefer the visual novels stick to trying to have good writing and sexy things to look at.

I have a very negative attitude. Like mini-games. It distracts from the main plot.

Depends on if they are interesting or just time consuming. Well done puzzles can be entertaining. If they are just there to block progress, they suck.

If it's a complicated or difficult puzzle that blocks a secret, then fine, work hard for that reward.

If instead it blocks progress in the story or side stories, then it's crap. You're just making it frustrating to progress and will cause players to quit your game.

yeah, a mild puzzle that makes you use your brain a little is good and encouraged, but if you make do advanced calculus just to see a 1/8 of a panty shot then I'm uninstalling you, the game task of the dead falls into this category

I think every dev should ask themselves "would this puzzle/minigame/combat be fun without the story and lewd scenes?"

If the answer is "yes", keep it in moderation; if "no" then players are just going to see it as an annoying obstacle to the stuff they really want.

Puzzles in a VN are effing stupid and I hate them, but if it's more of a game than VN I understand why they are there, but I still hate them. -_-

As long as they are easy

I am fine with them as long as it has an appropriate difficulty level.

It depends on the kind of puzzle for me, honestly. Lessons in Love has my biggest gripes with puzzles, and I think this is unpopular take. There's sections where you have to input codes or something that can't be found in the area you're in. You have to remember things from random dialogue that happened earlier in the game and they get really convoluted. Those who played it know what I mean. I don't like that approach, becomes sometimes, I'm horny and skip the dialogue to get to scenes.

Other puzzles in games where you have to arrange pieces or use clues you have immediate access to I usually don't mind. Sometimes they are annoying but they're never more than that; simply an annoyance. Sometimes they end up being a little fun and challenging!

The ones I really dislike are the quizzes, mostly of them asssumes the person that's playing is american, it pisses me off when they use inch/feet/mile/Fahrenheit, I just want to fap for fucks sake

I don't want puzzles at all! Maybe in an RPGM but in renpy games I find it just annoying. It just serves as nothing but filler for those games.

Would highly agree, if the puzzle hides extra content i'm all for it, but when it hampers game progression it gets frustrating and 9/10 leads to a game deletion.(n)

I think it is fine if they are simple ones for depth. Complex ones are a hard pass tho.
