Ugh so I was out yesterday because of the headache. Come in today. Not to bad 13 orders. Got pretty much most of everything packaged within the first hour. But since then it's been constant interruptions and a meeting ( which once again I leave without knowing what I'm supposed to be doing with this new system )

Cake or Pie?

Answer: Between the two I'd pick cake. I do enjoy some pies, especially meat pies, but most fruit pies I don't really care for. Cake, there's not many cakes I'd say no to.
However, if tarts were an option, I'd pick that, because I love me some cheesecake.

Pie. Definitely pie.

The sheer variety alone trumps cake a hundred times over.

You've got your apple pie and pumpkin pie..

..then you've got your pecan pie..

..and let's not forget the many variations of pot pie, shepherds pie and assorted meat pies..

..and last but not least the humble cream pie.

Yeah, there are those of us called backreaders. I used to be a backreader until a took becoming a moderator to the knee. This thread represents only about 1/3 of just the lurker threads that have existed on the site. I've read the entirety of what we call the "OG" lurker thread (it's not the original...)

Hello everyone. Hope you're all having a good week!

Hi Algeo -- go to see you -- we were talking about pies and I thought of you!

RACCOON PIE​

1 raccoon 1 qt. water 1 pt. vinegar 1 tbsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 1 tbsp. brown sugar 1/4 oz. pickling spices 1 onion, diced 4 sm. potatoes 4 sm. carrots 1 recipe baking powder biscuits Cut prepared raccoon in serving pieces. Mix water, vinegar, seasonings, sugar and spices together. Put raccoon pieces in this brine for 8 hours or more. Drain, put in stewing kettle and cover with water. Cook until meat is tender. Add onion, potatoes, and carrots. When all ingredients are tender, remove from broth. Thicken liquid with browned flour and butter and season to taste. Place meat and vegetables in a dish and cover with gravy. Cover the top with your own recipe for baking powder biscuits, with a little extra shortening in dough. Cut vent in dough. Bake at 450 degrees until brown, about 12-15 minutes. Serves 8.
