I really wonder about old horror movies, did people really find them scary with their imagination filling in for how silly it often looked? or were they just considered a silly fun time?
If it was just their imagination, it sure was doing some heavy lifting.

Special effect reaction is entirely based on what you are used to -- Yes people were frightened by the creature in the black lagoon and King Kong back in the early days because they never saw anything like that before. People were super impressed with Star Wars for the same reason -- watch it now and it's just meh

This pretty much. Imagine somebody came out with ultra 5D immersion virtual reality sensory technology that showed you a story of YOU being hunted down by a serial killer. The only thing worse would be actually being in that situation for real, and for people back then it was the closest you could come to that experience. Makes you wonder if entertainment will evolve to the point were people wouldn't even be bothered by the real scenario.

But is LC worth anything at all now that we have gone over to the AC standard? Have we gone the way of the Weimar Republic and the Papiermark which they used before the Reichsmark? The hyperinflation of the 1920s made the Papiermark almost worthless. Have the Mods performed a money coup without anyone noticing?

I didn't intend to be here this much tonight. I intended to drop in, leave, then catch up on a VN. But did that happen? NO!

To make things worse, a light little thunderstorm knocked out my power just long enough to screw up the clocks, which I reset, and then realized it's the beginning of DST tonight, so at least I was there to add the hour. Of course that makes me wonder: what clock is the bank tied to? Will my collection time be the same? Will it now be after 2am locally for me? Will it roll back to closer to midnight if the clock is tied to UTC or GMT? Guess I'll find out.

I guess the positive thing that happened is that I've already picked up close to 750 LC I didn't have three hours ago...
