Yeah - been busy all day every day the last week, getting home late, beat all to hell and needing to hit the bed early. Have mostly just logged in long enough to clear reactions and collect interest. Even tonight, I'm not planning on doing much, but wanted to pop my head in, since I also haven't had any VN time the whole week, either. Trying to finish an update that I had to do a replay on so I can move on to the rest of my update queue.

Nothing new. This is the most recent - it hasn't really seen any action since initial posting, so here you go.

I really wonder about old horror movies, did people really find them scary with their imagination filling in for how silly it often looked? or were they just considered a silly fun time?
If it was just their imagination, it sure was doing some heavy lifting.

I mean there has to be reviews made during the original film's releases that could give insight into how the movies were received, I just don't know where to find any reviews or sources

You might be able to find some of that on the IMDB website, and sometimes the Wiki pages for old movies will link to things like that if something about "reception" or "impact" are discussed in the article. I don't put a lot of faith in Wiki, but sometimes there can be a little good data.

I've been told that wikipedia is usually a good starting point even if you shouldn't use it directly. At least any well informed and trusted articles should have sources so it might be better to go read direct source instead but like I said I know very little about this

I think you underestimate what anyones imagination still has to 'lift' even with modern movies ... everyone knows they are watching a movie, yet they get scared.
It's called (willing) suspension of disbelief, by ignoring the fact that it is fiction your brain acts as if it was real. And for how bad it was looking back then: it was (often) the best possible, so it didn't seem as silly at the time. Some old movies that are good made hold up pretty nicely even today (think of Jaws), while others that weren't the top of the cream back then might look too ridicolous compared to todays standards ... and only that direct comparision makes them too unbeliveable.
