I've only played what has been released on Steam... Season 2, I think? While I love its variety of choice, I don't think the writing itself is great.
I do plan to buy & play Season 3, so I'll have a more relevant opinion then.

I think after a while most the the very popular AVN devs just keep the a game rolling to keep the sub money coming in; past the point where they should have started a new game. It's probably a symptom of the subscriber/backer model.

Yeah, creators are incentivized to deliver "the same old" to appease the backers. He couldn't do things like kill off a character because people would riot.

But then you're creating a planned economy... Corporations are already very slow to course correct, governments are even worse. Then there's the whole governmental bloat, increase in taxes, etc, etc... I'd need to be convinced that governments are capable of managing an economy to that extent.
I'm also not convinced it would solve the lobbying issue. Politicians being wrong, corrupt, or both, is still a big issue. :-/

Every economy is planned. It's naive to think otherwise. And yes, goverments are corrupt, and maybe bloated, but no system will ever be perfect, and the final goal is the common good. Neo-capitalism aims for no control, at all, and the only aim is for the people in control to get even more rich. And corruption is no needed because, as we can see, they can bent the laws to their liking. So, literally, anything they decide becomes law.

And politicians can be, and are, wrong, corrupt or both in any system.

I think it was mostly the point and click format that turned me away...with my limited physical abilities ones like that are difficult for me

Yeah, same here. One of the first AVN I played after coming down from Mass Effect LE & Tali. I wanted to play something that made me experience a connection with the characters, and eventually found AVN.
But almost two years later, my tastes have refined a lot.

Though, I'm sure if we didn't play many AVN, then BaDIK would still feel special.

I'm honestly amazed at what some of the devs can do with honey select. Maybe it's because they make up for some of the models with better writing

I heard that he had killed a character that he needs now and is one of the reasons he's stuck writting winds of winter. Also the whole Dany situation is a mess.
And he's become so succesful now that maybe he just doesn't feel compelled to finish the book
