Mind control is an excellent genre, but I don't see many people talking about it.

I understand tastes are personal, I personally don't like Mind Control when it is used in a strange way.

I wouldn't mind a good VN in this genre, but this seems to be rare so far, if it exists at all. The likely problem is that an MC who can exert mind control is normally extremely powerful. In order to get a proper plot you need to find a way to restrict this. ("MC is a powerful god who can do whatever he wants when he wants it and nobody can do anything about it" is not a good basis for a story.) I guess many of those with the strongest interest in this genre don't like such restrictions.

Honestly I completely agree! So much potential here but I don't see it done nearly enough.

Shattered Minds is a good one in this genre if you haven't tried it yet. Kind of like a mid point between hard mind control and hard corruption.

I'd also love to see more free use stuff as well

The answer is simple, it's a niche genre.

Something very specific for a small audience and not everyone will enjoy it because it has a big impact on how the game will be, just like NTR, cuckold, female protagonist, etc. it's just not for everyone and that's fine and it should never become more popular.

The reason I say it's not fine for it not to become popular is because when a niche genre becomes popular it loses its essence to accommodate more tastes. This is what happened to the horror genre in games, it became so popular that now it's very rare to see good horror games, most are totally commercial games made for all audiences (no gore or psychological horror), a trivialization of horror reduced to something very ugly that chases you and jump screams.

You don't want that to happen to your favorite niche genre, it's true that you would have more games, but of much worse quality.

i really like it when its done correctly, like in "elf of hypnslut", where the mind control is made slowly to change the behaviour of the heroins little by little, in there you can really make the genre shine in comparasion of straight corruption. But when its done incorrectly its just straight up less intresting corruption, you really need to show the normal personality being affected by the mind control.

Personally i am not a fan, if its used well im ok with it, but i feel like it cheapens the corruption aspect. Its like playing purely easy mode rather than the seduction and degredation to make the LIs into what you want. I prefer them to walk into it rather than just *snap fingures* and done

There are some Hentais/Manwha's with time stop and mind control that I read and watched. For me it is an "okay" genre. I don't find it exciting because it takes everything away. Like playing a game on very easy with cheats.
I think used once in an entire game as MC or anti-protagonist could be really cool but as a main aspect of a game/hentai/manwha whatever I find boring.

Personally I enjoy, not just the sex, but the narrative process of the characters involved getting to the sex. Mind control is one of those things that tends to bypass the entire process. You're not getting to know the girl, growing closer to her, overcoming personal or societal hangups, etc. You just kinda think at her and drop trou.* And that's kinda dull for me. It's not alone, I feel the same lack of engagement with e.g. free use stories or incest stories where the whole family was incestuous before the game started and nobody has an issue with it.

*Unless the writer has realized that problem and added stuff to do before you can use the mind control- but that can be a little tricky and sometimes feels like it's just padding. Long Live the Princess got it right but I can't think of many others.

The problem for me is that it generally strips away all character. might as well be using a Fleshlight. Though the game Princess Knight was really hot, and that was mind control.

Mind control is hard to do in a manner that's not generic. It's like substituting real incest for step-incest, it feels shallow and only there to sell. That said, done right, I am 10000% for mind control. I'm really big on corruption, specifically, and that touches on pretty much every. single. theme that exists.

Mind control is indeed not done enough. I wouldn't say that few people like it but there are few people that have the inspiration to do it well in a game.
I would love to see more titles with it.
