You got to look at your grandparents....7 children no debt with a house and a uneducated blue collar job.
I think a lot of the change has to do with greed. In 1970, CEOs made about one million which was 20 to 30 times the average salary of their company's workers. This compares to the average CEO at a Fortune 500 company today making close to $20 million per year.

The problem here: Due to either (still undiagnosed) adhd, or my body just rejecting it, coffeine doesn´t work for me 😅
I litterally drink 2 or 3 coffees at night and go to bed right after. Usually it doesn´t bother me at all and I sleep like a baby (well for around 6 hours at least)

But sometimes my body is just like:
Sleep? Oh hell naw as long as I can´t eat it, I don´t want it 🙃

The kind with XX chromosomes not pretending to be boys, and definitely not LARPing dudes, surgically altered or not. Also, actual FUTAs don't exist, so don't even go there. ;)

Don't worry: I'm always well armed and adept at self defense. I also know folks with lots of land, woodchippers and backhoes in case I ever need them. 😁:sneaky:

Unf... you had me at "backhoe"...

I think that's a very simplified view on things.
A company sells stocks so they can attract investors. To attract investors, they need some level of trust in how the company is run. This is why CEOs earn these amounts, they provide much more value to the company than their wages and bonuses and whatnot combined because they have a track record that gives investors confidence in the company. Contrary to popular belief, CEOs don't decide themselves how much they earn.

The mistake most people seem to make, is to think that publicly traded corporations are still concerned about the quality of their product. They're not. As soon as a company becomes public, their primary concerns become public perception, marketing, and making as much profit as possible to satisfy their investors. What is perceived as greed, is these companies doing what they're supposed to do. Attract investors, grow, and pay interest/dividends.

Don't every court in the world consider a mitigating factor having no understanding or capacity to understand the law?
Not in the state of Texas - they don't give a shit
I think it was the ultra rare quad post

I read that some are clockwise and some are counter-clockwise, so they have to find a mate with the same rotation. I don't recall if it was different within species or just between species, e.g., are all mallards clockwise, or do they go both ways (no, not like that...)?

That's something so many folks just don't understand or even take the time to try to understand. The manner of compensation also comes into play: the cash element is generally relatively small in comparison to the overall package. Options, appreciation rights, and equity grants usually play a much bigger role - often more than 90% of overall potential compensation - and those are earned based upon the company's performance metrics. If the company does well, much of that will be attributed to the CEO (as well as other C-level employees), and their incentive comp will reflect that; by the same token, if the company doesn't do well or meet metrics, that will also be attributed to the CEO and incentive comp will be severely reduced or entirely withheld - don't meet the mark, don't get the comp. I used to have to gather and calculate all of that shit and provide it to the CFO and HR folks.

Evening everyone. I hope y'all are well and sleazy. Today has been a long one, and so is tomorrow.
Sad part is my back reading is going to suffer for today and tomorrow.
