It does go a long way, the problem is, we're a few fuckups down the line. The first broke the trust, and as we were using ducttape to stick it together, the second came stopping on the remains, leaving us with dust that just trickled through the fingers...
Slowly though, we're getting back there.
A few months ago I was feeling really out of place on here, logged in only occasionally to check the DMs. But now? Well, I've got some hope again now.

And then onto P5!

Question: Is there a reason you want P2 and P3?
You'd be better off letting the interest accumulate rather than wasting it on ranks which, at the moment, do nothing.
sure there is...badges are kinda like the pokemon the kids ran around after, gotta collect them all :ROFLMAO: really though the badges do look cool and kinda shows folks you are progressing through the ranks.

Yeh but... You can just go back and get them all and nobody is any the wiser :ROFLMAO:

I still got a week or so to decide for sure as I am less than 15k away from being able to get P4 but it would clean me out

Don't really know when it will be here, but the release date (on patreon) is on March
Yup, you are right... its coming on the 7th :giggle:

I mean I have given up on AI. Let's be honest I bet in 3-6 month new purge will happen maybe 2 or 3 times then they move everything to P6 or something.
I am just here to sleaze with the people he in this thread. Now I just talk randomly about games and sometimes handout coins to mem+ people to get a P1 upgrade.

Yeah, that would suck if I saved up for it, though if they do that there is going to be alot of bad blood since people have spent $50 on it, it was less of an issue when it was free.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that history. I created my account a long time ago, but only started actively visiting this forum a week ago.
Is this about the AI art debacle, or were there other issues?

Yeah, this is another thing. Before, all the ranks ONLY cost LC. But this one, needing either LC or actual money? It's hard to see them going back on that.

With the meaning behind the prestige tiers, I don't mind this, personally. Collecting the points or spending money both show a certain commitment.
Now, I'm also fairly immune to FOMO, so I'm in no hurry to get access.

Wasn't it possible to buy LC points through donations, btw?

You could, but that felt different. 230k is such a high number its almost like its not meant to be reached. Members plus still sounded possible, even P4 does with a lot of commitment.
Also it was alot cheaper

I'll try and be brief, plus I'm probably misremembering some of it!

There was two major events really.

The First Event - The Purge: The website got reported to the hosts and it caused quite a panic - understandably. The report was based on some Loli AI Art that had been posted in the equivalent of this thread. So, they moved all the threads with art out and into P4.
Art was HUGE at the time. People were posting in here daily with bits of AI art - some just silly art to wind each other up, but some more pervy, etc etc. Either way, Art was big. Many users ran Art Comps to dish out coins, that sort of thing.
It was annoying, the big move, but understandable. One of the problems though, is it came with The Purge which tasked all the mods with going through the threads and deleting any AI art they could find - labour intensive work. This is why, to this day, you're not allowed to post ANY AI art outside of P4. Lewd or not, not allowed. Want to make an AI of a Burger (as a user did a few weeks ago) - can't post it. They've only just loosened the restrictions to allow AI Avatar pictures, but even they were scrapped and forcibly deleted for awhile.

You can still see the ramifications of this - like Slums display picture being made on Paint. Or any thread that has (Cleaned) at the end of it's title.

It was hard and it soured a lot of peoples attitudes. This was when trust was first broken. But, whilst many thought the reaction was excessive, it was, at the very least, understandable.

The Second Event - The Nuking: When all had settled down, P4 was raging with Art, and people were still chatting out here, the next event loomed. One night, without any warning, P4 just got nuked. Completely deleted off the site. This is when trust fell to dust. Even the mods hadn't been warned. Everything was gone without a chance to collect it. Peoples art work, peoples comments. All of Mimes competitions that he was running daily. Just gone. However, things calmed down a little, and a backup was restored. Not really loosing that much. But then another Purge had to happen. Poor Slum had just become a mod at that point too, so he was mainly in charge of going through. This time, it was regarding the age/realism of the AI Art. Certain art had to be purged - again.

And, that brings us here really. P4 is kind of dead. BUT. All the Mods, especially Mime and Guz89, have been working really hard to get something going - speaking with the Owners/Admins - and setting up image verification threads, etc. And now, P5 starting, with a lot of fanfare, it's really encouraging some activity and hope. So... The trust is rebuilding, we're getting there, but you can also see why many are still skeptical.

I was very, very, very skeptical for awhile. But this week is the most positive I've felt about this place in awhile.

Yeah, that's fair. Maybe the high number is a consequence of the admins wanting this to be an elite club, and the need to make prestige tiers more expensive?
I'm sure they have statistics about the amount of LC the average active user has, and I hope they based their decision on that number.

Looked at the shop before posting this reply... 14 (LC) + 63 (Gold coin) items sold... That supports your opinion, tbh.
That said, I'm grateful to those who bought gold coins for the financial stability of this site.

Thanks for the history, I definitely wasn't paying that much attention at the time. funny how so much can happen without you knowing about it.

wow...and to think I stumbled across this site maybe 3 years ago but never joined because the laptop I had at the time didn't have memory available to download anything. Now I have a new one so I joined this go around.

I can assure you that, even if the numbers feel big, they're reachable. And, also, if you're a productive member of the site, there's users who are rolling in coins that help upstanding people reach their goals.

It's more the consequence of admins ensuring the utmost trust. As you said above, about Points/Coins or Spending Money showing Commitment. They want you to be very commited to get behind P5.

Extra History Lesson!
For any readers who don't know why LC Coins came about in the first place.

As @Quetz has touched on, LC Coins - Bought or Earned - are a form of Trust and Commitment.
Back last year, LC was targeted by a report. At the time, all the games were available and all you had to do was make an account. As many will remember if their accounts are old.
Earning coins was a way of showing you were trustworthy to see beyond just "Adult games" and into "Members+" games. In an attempt to stop the site getting reported - the theory being, anyone spending time or money to earn enough points was unlikely to report the site. It worked, and still works, really well. With the except of when AI Art was being posted out in the open and got struck by a report.

That's also why the Lurker Threads exist, by the way! Because so many of us were Lurkers with no intention of talking, but wanting to make coins...

Yeah, I can see that. Certainly for people who took pride in the art they were creating, it would feel like a slap to the face.

The Second Event - The Nuking: When all had settled down, P4 was raging with Art, and people were still chatting out here, the next event loomed. One night, without any warning, P4 just got nuked. Ouch. Yeah, that'd be enough for me to leave the site and post elsewhere, tbh (if art was a thing I did).
This also makes me wonder what the site's VPN is for. If it's well configured, nobody could retrieve its actual IP address to contact the host with.

And, that brings us here really. P4 is kind of dead. BUT. Yeah, I'd be skeptical as well. Certainly skeptical enough to not want to pay money to get access. But this can also explain why access to it is so expensive. It seems like the admins want to give these creators a home, but are also very aware and averse to the risk that comes with it.

How the hell does the All... fallen site still exist, I mean they can be nice enough( some are poison level toxic) but I wouldn't want to live near many of them considering I have younger siblings. How does that site still exist?
They also don't have realistic AI art now that I think about it

Didn't know that game was still being worked on. Played the free version on Steam almost 18 months ago.

And, at least in my case, this thread has the funny side effect of actively increasing my commitment. I have access to the things I want to have access to, but I'm still checking in regularly.

How the hell does the All... fallen site still exist, I mean they can be nice enough( some are poison level toxic) but I wouldn't want to live near many of them considering I have younger siblings. How does that site still exist?
Probably owned and hosted in a country with very permissive laws regarding its content.

I don't frequent them, personally. But didn't they recently just struggle from an attack?
LC has never been taken down, they've just been reported - the responses are the Owners own choice. His site, his rules - I don't think we can judge him for being risk-averse given the nature of the thing. All the things I've described have been measures that have been put in place in response. Rather than us hanging on for dear life whilst people attack us.

By the way, I'm really hoping that if I'm wrong one of the Mods/Backreaders will come by and correct me.
I give them full permission to add a Mod Edit to any of my posts, as I would hate to sow disinformation!
