Would you rather the creator finish creating the game that caught your eye?

Like many have said, you become used to unfinished games.
So as long as we get some of that good content, it's fine really.
I'm pretty sure I'd eventually abandon any game I set my hand to as well, so I can't be too harsh.

"if the game gets finished" The thing is devs get greedy. They milk the updates to make more money. Or once they make bank they dip. Or when they make bank they spend it all on pointless shit. Its very rare that a game gets finished now(ex AI games.... But FUCK those)

Enough content and I'll play. I often just keep an eye on newly released games of fear of liking the game, just for it to take a long time between updates and/or the game getting abandoned. But like you say, many sadly never gets finished :(

I'll play anything as long as its good, doesn't matter if it finished or not.

I want games to get done, so longer form games scare me. The higher the aspiration the higher chance it dies in like v0.4

This is why I often play Japanese games, they are complete.

Thinking about it, why do they end up doing that, I'd think they'd do well if they started another game, they already have a brand and now a certain amount of trust seeing that you've finished a game before.

Sometimes a good game just keeps adding LI and it gets too busy, and you haven't even had sex with your daughter yet! God damn travesty!

Preferably, once a project is started, it should also be completed. It's a shame when a developer is suddenly MIA, even though the game or VN is far from finished. Though the reasons may vary - the developer may die, may burn out, may run into writer's block, etc. But that's not what I've encountered more often - at some point, the game ceases to interest me and goes to the trash bin (Sumertime Saga, Taffy Tales, Love and Sex Second Base, Reunion anme others).

Honestly I would prefer they do but if not possible I dont mind if someone else.picks it up but that's just me 🫠

Because they've got people hooked/invested in the characters/story they're have right now. I think Devs that milk for too long are worried if they end their story and start another people won't be interested in the new characters/story, and they aren't necessarily wrong, it's a gamble, the next game may not have the same magic, so why risk it?

IMO they could get around this by cutting the original long game into multiple games all set in the same "universe". For example, a game that gets milked could go something like, MC romances their close family members, then after a while the Dev starts introducing aunts/cousins to romance, then later on moves on to friends/classmates, finally getting to shopkeepers or other random characters. You can see how this could easily be split into four self-contained games with their own stories, which I think would be a better way to operate, but I'm not a game Dev so it's not up to me.

Another cut and paste LI, with formulaic scenes. Just because this one's a blond and the last one was a brunette doesn't mean that you've got variety!.

We can't help many of the reasons for MIA, but maybe we can do something for burnout and block. If we normalise and even encourage devs asking for help or input (I know some do) in forums like these. I know we've got boards here for that purpose, but maybe we all need to do a little bit more to support the dev community that gives us our beloved games.

It doesn't have to be financial, it can be as simple as words of encouragement, meaningful feedback, or cooling off hot head unfairly criticizing the game. It could be taking a small step into writing a scene, if you have coding skills maybe fixing a bit of the UI that's on the to-do list.

I enjoy playing games that is WIP. Its almost like watching a weekly show where you can talk about whats coming next and so on

That question is obviously yes but I abandoned him and you've been there for more than a year and I hope he comes back and ends that harem :c

I like playing through games as they are updated because it helps me stagger my playtime with it and then every few major updates I will play it again. I understand that with most of these games they either will never get finished or rushed to an ending so I like to enjoy it more as I go in anticipation of the sudden rush to finish things.

there's many great games that are unfinished/abandoned, would be great to see them continued of course but what can you do

One go to test if the game is actually good and decent, then follow its progress.
The idea of keep repeating the same unfinished game every new update can and will ruin your enjoyment of it.
Happen to me with Another Chance. Great story but after so many updates and new plays, it doesn't hit as before.

If the game has enough content, then it's all good. Even better if the game has an ending but still more content that could be done. Not necessarily post-ending content but content that can still be done after the ending.

Wish I had the discipline to only start completed games. Would save me a lot of aggravation.
