discussion So a question about asshole game devs.

So I have talked to quite a few game devs and most are fine but some are fucking dick heads and get corrupted by fame and money so fast. I just want to know if anyone else has a similar experience talking to one or some. Also no names of the game devs, please.

One dude I used to hang out with and help with knowledge-type shit for his game because a character was given a tutor. Helping out in a discord call I finally finished helping and walked to make food. The dude thought I had left the call and started talking shit to a person who commissioned a character and even had legally fair use of the character to do whatever he wanted to do with it. And this is all because the guy wanted to use his character in a fangame and he even asked the game dev for the okay with it. The same game dev who let another dude do the same thing but paid him even more cash. And I have seen that character in games nowhere related to the original. Well back to it came back and said wtf and got banned for talking about the first guy because he just got banned too.

So what are your stories if you have any?

If a developer releasing their game on time and the quality doesn't suffer and they aren't overall bad to customer experience I don't care if they are assholes.

It really depends, I don't like devs who promise and don't deliver or lie and gaslight. But if it's all about not hurting people's feelings I don't care about that.

You won't like the guy I am talking about then. I have like more than 15 different stories about him. But If I told all of them you might know who he was. But I will give more insight into the first message I posted. Both dudes were in a legal contract about the commissioned character. Dev lied about it multiple times. And I might even go into a fucked up story about he the dude will always side with the highest money man even if that person is a piece of shit and did horrible things to others as the dev watched, but only if my friend says it's okay since that is his story to tell.

It is no different as non game developpers... Some people are just assholes, and getting some fame just make it show more... -- that being said : high profile games also attracts assholes (players) that just give bad shit to even good game developpers... After a while those developpers just stop reacting nice because of all the shit they receive...

exactly. I get annoyed enough at the people I deal with IRL. I'd lose it probably dealing with people online too.

oh nah it's not him, i checked. that guy looks like a piece of work though.
it was assassinsdick/naykid that might have faked his own death. from the fuck95 thread for assassinsdick's game: "Apparently it's the second time he "died" and the message about his death is nearly identical to the one when he allegedly "died" the first time It's rumored that he pretended to die to quit working on It's All Relative without having the negative reputation of abandoning a project." there sure are some people in this world.

Look, if someone expects that in places where a good chunk of the antisocial people gathers and to always find good words and a good attitude, that someone is delusional.

I do like them, no. But I`m not a social person either. If I can do something with 3 words and not 20, be sure I would use 3 words. If 10 people talk to me at the same time, I would try to solve the problems, but be sure that what I want is to hit them with the chair.

I genuinely wish that this was true but back in 2023 we had someone who puts this man to shame. This guy was a complete psycho, Lies, blackmail of Younger people for you know what and more. The worst thing for the people who backed this guy was that their money might have gone towards his illicit operations as he was being investigated back in 2021 and was developing from 2020 onward's.

I loved the game he made and despite what he did I'll remember it fondly but not because of him.

I was helping a dev to learn Daz better skins, etc, and was on fairly good terms. One of his followers on this discord made a walkthrough mod just like many games have. He flew into a rage because the mod hurt his profits as he sold his guide separately. This rubbed me the wrong way when I stepped up for the modder I was also cursed out by the dev. I walked away from that dev I will not put up with that type of person.

I'm considered an asshole for prioritizing Linux and making Linux only games when I first started. Even though I don't make any money from game since it's a hobby and I contribute my games as free and open-source game projects to the gaming community.
