discord is pretty much modern day irc tho innit? i remember the awkward phase of transitioning out of irc with shit like msn, xfire and skype. all that bs just to go back to whats pretty much irc with a facelift

I went from IRC to Delphi message boards (which I sometimes miss) to AOL boards and AOL IM (which I hated because it cost so much and basically allowed people to slap anyone anywhere ) - Never really got into Discord -- possibly because I find the alert "pings" so annoying, and always HATED the Chans because of the users .

Th last time I was in a hurricane was Charlie in 2004 in Daytona. What was funny was all the drunks standing under the hotel awning (myself included) laughing at the news reporters faking it out in the street showing their viewers how dangerous it was and how brave they were. Literally 50 feet from total safety . (image not of Charlie but pretty close to what it was like - watch in the background)

100% agree some things were better but now things are just so streamlined and optimized trying to navigate and use your computer there are so many slice of life features that the rose-colored glasses don't account for.

That being said nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Nostalgia definitely is that. I remember things fondly but when you really think about it, during that time we couldn't wait for what the future held.

Ah those wonderful Myspace days - I actually thought it would beat out Facebook (I also thought that Beta would beat VHS) Interestingly my old Myspace account still exists - or did 3 or 4 years ago.
