discussion Does playing Dark Games affect your personality in real life?

It obviously affects you in some no mater what because you now have thoughts and information that you didn't have before, but whether or not it affects you depends a lot on your personal mental heath an thought processes.

Some people will see such things and convince themselves that doing such things in real life is ok for them to do, while others will realize that even if their into those sorts of things that some of them a not ok to do in real life and others will just find them completely disgusting.

Not that I've personally known or experienced, so it's all anecdotal, but others seem to have the same idea of knowing to separate fiction from reality.

I play a lot of red dead online, and my friends and I have made a "murder" game of it.

We sneak around towns at night, a kill npcs without getting caught or noticed. It's a fair bit dark at times, but does not make us bad people.

It'd a game, and we leave it at the game.

There is an argument that different types of media act as a "gateway" to deviant behavior. Video Games, Movies and even print media are seen by politicians, theologians and controversial scholars as the beginning of a "pattern" of behavior. The facts they refuse to acknowledge is that the real deviants are the ones that portray an image of straight laced society. I am not saying that it doesn't happen. We have seen instances of a convicted mass shooter or serial rapist accusing a video game or movie of causing them to commit crimes. The whole "Devil made me do it." has won an innocent jury decision only once in recorded history. The simple fact is that people committing heinous crimes were headed that direction long before they played a stupid game that portrayed a certain act.

Not really.
I use these games to feed my dark impulses.
You know like you use shooters or going to the gym to deal with agression in a healthy way.
So to do i use and abuse virutal woman to feed my desire to dominate and enslave.

Not in the slightest I am a normal person who recognises the people around me as individuals with their own rights to respect and dignity. Games are just games. There are games I find distastful that I won't be playing again because I don't like the experience of playing them but they can't change me.
Anyone who claims they are messed up because of games is getting cause and effect reversed.

Maybe yes, maybe not, but I definitely know where the line is between games and real life, and there’s no way I’m bringing the dark fantasy I enjoy in games into the real life.
