Some people just don't celebrate though - usually another religion or fundamentalists nuts. Most of s nonbelievers still celebrate without any of the religious stuff. It was stolen from Pagans anyway.

The way I see it, you don't need to be a believer to celebrate it, just ask big retail

If I were religious I'd call for an amen. And although I don't celebrate the holiday, I do gather with family and enjoy that time with them, and respect those who do celebrate the holiday(s). This time of year can be sad, but also bring comfort. Merry Christmas to you guys!

Good morning Mr. Nobody. Doing good except for a bit of a cough. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.

I started to respond to a couple of the posts about gifts, but wasn't sure I could formulate my thoughts properly. I don't give gifts, and prefer not to receive gifts. I appreciate the sentiment, but rarely the gift itself.
When I do receive gifts, they almost always end up being donated. I'm a tough person to shop for, and for that same reason, I'm self conscious about getting something for somebody else.

But when I look back at the gifts I've received or given that I really remember, money isn't usually involved. Heartfelt notes, anonymous things, experiences shared. So, I don't buy gifts for people, and ask them not to do so for me. And I can afford to buy gifts, and my friends and family can afford to buy gifts. I just won't appreciate the gifts. Exactly as you say, a gift doesn't need to be a physical one.

I REALLY appreciate the sentiment of a gift. But I appreciate a heartfelt note hand written inside a cheap card, or a sketch, an afternoon hike, or those things more. The best gifts I gave or received were when I was growing up poor, and they had little to do with how much money was spent.

Yeah, maybe I should just shut up. Everybody already knows I'm fucked up in the head!

I was going to be busy today, but ends up I'll be lurking and playing games, and playing with myself. So to speak

Everything good, a little stressed because now are coming like 10 more people for Christmas dinner.... so this is going to become a pay to eat dinner, a lot of self-invite people FML.
