discussion Does it matter if MC is faceless or not for people that self-insert themself?

I have seen a lot of discussion about people that self-insert themself to the MC and was wondering about this.

If you like to do it, do you prefer the character to be faceless, (aka you never see the MC:s face) or not?

For me it doesn't matter that much, as long as character design looks good.

Doesnt really bother me - ive gone through both. Honestly ive had more issues with poor camera angles and perspectives owing to trying to remove the face than i have had with the face itself etc.

Never thought about the poor camera angle thing. But I agree that it easily could be a problem when trying to avoid the face. Good input

If it's done well. Big "if" then "faceless" is better. But it's got to be done really well. To the point that you don't consciously notice it.

Honestly I don’t pay much attention to the MC, I just put myself in that scenario regardless. I rarely know what the mc even looks like

In general, I don't care. It might bother me if the MC looks like a retard.
What usually bothers me more is when there is a huge friggin bush between the legs, or worse, when the entire body is almost as hairy as a gorilla, but that's another topic.
I don't understand the capabilities/possibilities of these programming tools, but I hope we'll see customizable characters/faces in the future. That would be great.

yep, that too. since there are some characters who was built with a goofy espressions or worse, ugly bastards ughh... i dont want to insert myself as an MC looking like that, i mean i'm not good looking but i'm not ugly either. my face is just plain and neutral...

But I have also played games where I felt a non-faceless protagonist/mc would have helped or made the game more immersive.

Same here. It can be distracting when the MC is to different and is taking attention that I'd rather spend on the girl(s)

well i do put myself with some characters as long as they're quite plain looking similar to me, but i will never put myself to those handsome and edgy kind of characters, since it's making me cringe..

The plot makes me hate them more as they are perverted idiots as well.

I always self insert, even if it doesn't make sense. I prefer not seeing the MC too often, but dislike it when the developer has awkward camera angles or something like a plant in the way of the MC. I also like farther away shots where I can see the complete models and then it would be really weird if the MC's face was not visible.

I don't mind female lead stories, but self inserting becomes strange. I loved the story where the female MC had a magic spell to add a penis so you could act as a male in a scene will still being a female.
