Sandbox games are good but most of the sandbox implementations are just about searching for one passage/action that will move the story forward. It doesn't make sense to make a sandbox game without sandbox elements.

Sandbox games are good but most of the sandbox implementations are just about searching for one passage/action that will move the story forward. It doesn't make sense to make a sandbox game without sandbox elements.

Most of them suck because it isn't a true sandbox, it's just you have to guess the right place to go to advance the story, which is a pain in the ass. If it's a game with time and has to be done at the right time (or worse, day AND time) then it's the pain in the ass equivalent of a hemorrhoid spurting blood and pus.

I loved Galaxies Online. That's the kind of sandbox I do enjoy. Most of what I see in VN's is so grindy. A repeat of the same thing over and over. That's not enjoyable for me.
