Now that it's Christmas time again, ridiculous xmas content will start to hit the market. I hate xmas updates for some reason.

It wouldn't be so bad, if those feel so disconnected and just overblown with their holidayness usually in a very americanized way, even if it's not from an us dev.
But to be honest, holiday specials are much worse in normal media like shows. There the whole episode is usually about the holiday. In porn games at least it's just more sex scenes but in costumes.

Yeah, holiday updates are garbage. I've never thought to myself "I am glad the developer worked on this instead of a proper update". It doesn't help that 90% of the time the characters act out of character for the scene, so it feels even more out of place than it already was...

The content always seems awkward at any other time of year, and I don't care for it much around the actual holiday either. At best it's an opportunity to "start" fresh with a self-contained scenario, but I don't feel it's executed well very often.

SAME. I mean some of it is ok, but at the same time, I'd rather have more relevant story content.

I can only echo the others sentiment. They just draw resources away from the main game update. Look at Power Vaccum and all the wasted time on the NTR side stories.

I'm ignoring holiday specials. Waste of development effort. It would be better if developers spent time developing the main plot of their projects.

I don't see a problem. If you don't like Christmas, just don't download content with it I don't like Halloween and don't find it cool in any way. Same costumes each year, pumpkins, witches settings skeletons... Boring.

I like holiday events if they are part of the main story. Holidays are a great excuse for being lazy, which is why I enjoy them

I like holiday events when the game has its own calendar, so it makes sense for it in the story. Not many games do this, very few to be honest, but not bad. The only other version I like is when it's separate from the main line or if they don't change the characters personalities too much.

Holiday updates are actually a blessing since it gives me time to get more in touch with nature, flora and fauna, trees n' stuff. (this is because I do not download them)

I dunno, I kind of enjoy a fun off beat scenario. Tack it to a silly holiday and you can get a fun little theme.
