Saw a mention of chicken & dumplings somewhere last week and comfort food sounded good to me, so I made that to be my supper for the next few days. Cheated on the dumplings and used canned biscuits. Turned out pretty good. Not a trained chef, but know several, have experimented a lot, and like to cook. The last few days it was home-cooked Chinese style - finally figured out how to fry chicken chunks the way they do for General Tso's, sesame chicken, and things like that. Don't usually do chicken for two "cooks" in a row, but I had a craving for both dishes.

I'll do store bought nukables between cooks some times. Tomorrow I'll be nuking, but it will be leftovers instead of something chemically enhanced, over processed and out of a box.

Old video game music just had a different feel.

Saw a mention of chicken & dumplings somewhere last week, so I made that to be my supper for the next few days. Cheated on the dumplings and used canned biscuits. Turned out pretty good. Not a trained chef, but know several, have experimented a lot, and like to cook.

Haven't had dumplings in forever, but that sounds good. Made myself a vegetable stir fry today (have to ear healthy at least once a week).

I might do Bisquick dumplings next time - what I grew up with - but they can get messy and sticky. Guess I could buy some disposable kitchen gloves if I do.

I'm still trying to get the pancakes right. I used the box recipe a few times, and didn't like how they came out. Last time I used the "cream of tartar" method to make "buttermilk" and slightly increased the amount milk - flavor was better but texture still wasn't quite what I wanted. Will try the full "extra milk" version next time and see if that gets me where I want to be.

the difference when something is niche but also new and exciting and passion and invention drives it forward versus mainstream multi-billion stagnated bloated corrupt shitstorm that punishes and kills creativity. indie scene is generally the place to be to still enjoy and find new and cool ideas

That's the way I cook, but I see pancakes more like baking. For that reason, I've been doing it more as chemistry than art, but I can see some artistic license on the horizon.

Wet ya hands a bit before touching the batter, it helps it stick a little less to your hands..
Also the mess is so worth it after smashing a healthy amount of butter and syrup on em'.
