I don't think that's accurate. I don't think that his father paid for anything after Elon got out of college. Yes, he had a free ride for his education. I don't think his father contributed anything to any of Elon's businesses. I think Elon supports his father at this point, because of the bad decisions made somewhere along the line.

SpaceX, a private company (as opposed to government), has launched more satellites than everybody else combined. In addition to that, they currently launch almost 90% of the total payload by weight. They design re-usable rockets so that the cost to launch is less than anybody else. They have successfully launched the largest rocket ever built, and landed the largest booster safely for re-use.

And the electric cars, solar panels, battery technology, etc. Most of these are because he's willing to try new things, instead of doing them the way everybody else does.

I admit, I might feel differently if his company didn't provide me great internet where I once had none.

SpaceX is successful because of the engineers, not because of Musk.

Tesla et Twitter are in the process of sinking since he bought them, they lost tonss of money, because he made so many communication and management errors.

Musk has no competence, no new ideas (he is reactionary), he has never invented anything. He's totally overrated, he's a huge speculative bubble all by himself, when it’s going to explode it’s gonna hurt real bad. That he's the richest man in the world says a lot about the massive dysfunctions of today’s capitalism, which is largely based on finance and disconnected from real world production and value.

I call him "Space Karen" or "Sissy Spacex." He never knew much about cars/rockets - he got millions from his dad's emerald mine in Apartheid South Africa and bought what other people started. Space X and Tesla basically had people whose job was to keep him from touching anything, but Twitter didn't and you see what happened (I got banned soon after he took over. He's not for free speech unless he agrees with it - he banned more people than they did before he took over - and now it's a cesspool.)

Correct and I agree. The goings on in South Africa are still unethical though, but in reverse. The previously oppressed are taking advantage of everyone else as payback but it still doesn't excuse Elon. He's an entitled shit bag and claims credit for things people far smarter than him have created. Likely a psychological condition common among the wealthy but amplified in him due to the amount of money and status he now has
