What comes first, the chicken or the egg? I very rarely find myself thinking "Man, I'm really horny. Better fire up an eroge", but that's usually the whole point, isn't it? Some games go heavy into the story, but a lot of games are flat-out Nukige. I'll start playing and if it's really good I might end up beating my meat, but sometimes I get so caught up in the plot that I don't want to because once I cum I quit the game. And if I don't like the story I'll almost always end up quitting without even getting hard, regardless of how well done the H-scenes are. Anyone else play eroge/Nukige just for fun and not to get their rocks off?

Depends on the game. Some are just fun in general even without the hot parts, some are clearly just a thin excuse for the hot parts, and some are really good games with really arousing hot parts interspersed.

Neither. For a simple reason - Japanese graphics are extremely unappealing to me and I don't see anything sensual or sexual in them. For this reason, all Japanese games, VNs, etc. are in total ignore for me.

I've done both. Some games I am playing for their story and enjoy the occasional bit of smut thrown in. Others I follow only for the wank factor.

Both categories tend to skew to things I cannot find elsewhere. The types of games that are hard to get in other mediums. So it fills a need for both there. The only other place to get those kinds of stories for me is fanfic, and that area can be even more judgemental than sites like this and their detractors.

There are also some devs I follow specifically because they make great wank bank material. And others I love following coz they tell a wicked story. And then there are the true legends who proudly straddle the line between the two and provide great stories full of excellent smut. Like any other wank, it depends on the mood as to what got me there. Be it coming home and being horny, or playing something I need to catch up on and leaving myself dehydrated coz the update was so fucking good.

Each has its time and place.
