That and uneducated are two different things.
You can be smart. But not educated. And you can be educated, but not bright at all.
And of course uneducated and not bright at all...

I have known many people who were book smart and street stupid.
And some people are uneducated but that was due to their lack of effort, others are uneducated due to lack of opportunity.
The world teaches you things, and school teaches you thing, and the "richest" (not money necessarily) people are those that have learned from both.

As I thought.
I´ve heard quite a lot, that the education system in the states is terrible.
But that can be propaganda and sitcoms telling.

The education system in the states has its issues, but with so many people it's difficult to make something that works for everyone.
Parental participation in their child's education is often what's missing when the education system is "failing" and there's no way for the school to fix that.

the whole education clusterfuck is the result of a decades long (and ironically shortsighted) multipronged push by the wannabe ruling class who decided its easier to gut education than make policies that would be accepted by educated voters. as one politician in particular has said outright "we love the uneducated" if you are not taught history you cant see and recognize the warning signs that preceded so many failed states in the past. its no different from a mechanic trying to charge you for headlight fluid if you don't know how cars work.

There's a lot of issues. Certainly some greed involved along with changing political winds. One big issue is that school textbooks keep changing, somewhat due to changing testing standards, and so a huge amount of the money spent on education goes into new textbooks year after year. I recall when I was in school we used to have to protect the textbooks because they were used for several years. Now it's 1-2 years and new textbooks are needed. Add that to governmental changes each 4-8 years, and they change the standards either due to real concerns about curriculum, lobbying by textbook publishers, and sometimes because politicians want to influence the information kids get.
