Watched the movies in the Alien franchise recently, but no, no horror movies the last couple of days.
How about you. have you watched any?

I watched the new Evil Dead thing, 2023. It wasn't terrible... but nothing really stuck with me from it. Unexceptional, kind of.

A sad and angry Beaver reporting in for duty!
Had a bad day yesterday. Logged in here in the morning saying I was going out to trim some bushes (normally one of my favourite hobbies!) and didn't get back on here for the rest of the day!
I spent 6+ hours working out there and hurt my back in the process..

Didn't even feel like taking a shower afterwards. Stinky old Beaver!
Got into bed and stayed there until I was woken for dinner. We had an Indian delivered. A curry not..

After that I flopped into the armchair and fell asleep again. I was very disappointed when I woke up at 3.30am in the same spot!
Anyway, its pissing with rain today and the Beaver's back cannot take much action today so I have nothing better to do other than spend time on here.
Just as well as I have a shit load of ..

I hope everyone else has a better start to the weekend than the poor old Beaver!
Hopefully by this evening I might be well enough to order another Indian (this time the one pictured and not the curry!)
Unless I sustain further injury whilst back reading, I'll catch you all a bit later!

Not really, i have nothing against them growing up with a mom who loved watching them, it is just that the majority falls under snoozefest for me while the ones i have enjoyed i find myself enjoying because how silly it all looks and is so to me it is more comedy

Oh most of them are campy and silly as heck, for sure. That is part of the fun. Then every now and then, something actually interesting and scary comes up. I think the best horror I know, apart from the good bits of the Alien franchise, is Event Horizon. That one was... very interesting, and intimidating in its own right.

My Dad loved horror too, so while growing up, I may or may not have watched a ton of them, that maaaaybe I shouldn't have.
Still remember this one zombie movie, with a monkey(?) biting someone or something like that, and then the zombies started coming.
The monkey was maybe an animated puppet or very early CGI.
But anyway, that's the only thing I remember from that movie.

Enjoy the journey. But if there isn't a reason for P5, and they don't really use the coins for much after P4, why wait? (Says the person who made sure to have 2k extra LC to start a nest egg.)

There isn't a reason for the P5 YET. That doesn't mean there won't be one. Right now it seems like a placeholder setup to prepare for something, but set at an unrealistic number so that it's currently unattainable. But maybe it's just a joke or something. But what's the point in setting up a level that isn't used? My guess is that once enough people have P4 that we'll see new benefits and the P5 cost adjusted to something attainable, to give the P4 folks something to strive for.

Bleh. I've never seen the appeal for horror movies. At least not the ones that trade a good story for quick scares. But I'm not sure what type of movie qualifies as horror, or what branches off into sci-fi, for example. Either way, not watching anything currently. Any recommendations?

That's sick! Tested any games on it yet?

A bunch. Unfortunately, I can't play on it properly yet, since it arrived with its left controller being borked and not working in horizontal directions. Replacement joysticks should arrive later today, and I've already gotten my iFixit kit a few hours ago. But my initial impressions are really positive, it's a very capable machine, as long as you don't expect it to run everything at Ultra settings at 900 fps.

Do you know anything about the battery life on it?
Decent? Good? Bad?

The reviews that I saw unilaterally say that the original ROG Ally (not Ally X, which is the second generation that also is on the market) has poor battery life, lasting only about an hour and a bit at full power. Not surprising, since at Turbo it can do up to 25 W of power (30 W if plugged in), and the battery is about 40 Wh. Still, for $400 that I paid for this thing, I couldn't be happier about it. If you have closer to $700-800, though, I'd suggest you look into Ally X. Or you can also put in a modded battery: there are a few guides about putting beefier batteries into the original Ally, which either involve printing a new back plate, or just slightly adjusting the existing one, with different levels of sketch.

Just don't get the non-Extreme chip. There are two right now: AMD Z1 and AMD Z1 Extreme. Just don't get the basic Z1, it's not worth the savings in money.

Exactly!
You can play anything you want, including games from this wonderful establishment. The buttons are programmable in case the game doesn't support joysticks. It's slightly less convenient than a Steam Input, or a Steam Deck, but it's also more versatile, and I don't mind tinkering with it at all.

Also, my plan is to get myself a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and a dock, and connect it all together. This way, I can use my Ally as a proper computer that I can then snatch away from the stand and just use as a handheld later. That will easily weather me through the winter and spring, and until then I hope to save up enough money for a proper system.
