Meh. The alcohol level doesn't mean a lot about whether it's worth drinking. Distilleries use a variety of different rules when they make their whiskys. Though not entirely accurate, imagine 1000 gallons of whisky in a still. The whisky at the top is the best, and the stuff at the bottom is the worst. Some distilleries use the top 90%. Others use the top 70%. Both send the unused portion back through the process, but the distillery that uses only the top 70% has less of the nasty stuff.

Then the distillery puts the part they save into casks. Whisky often gets aged in casks that were already used to age another alcohol. They can leave it in the cask for only a short time (3-9 years), so it has little of the flavor of the cask. While others leave it in the cask so it picks up a lot of the flavor. New oak casks have a strong oak flavor. I don't like that personally. The already used casks, primarily sherry, impart a muted oak flavor while infusing a mild flavor of whatever was aged in it previously.

The younger the whisky, the milder the flavor other than oak. When hunting for a "good" whisky, one has to understand what they personally feel is "good." My preferred flavor is sherry, and knowing that, I poked around at what there was, and found the Joseph Magnus. But maybe you like some other quality. The type of grain and the way it is dried also plays a huge factor. For example, I hate petey flavor that many scotch whiskys have.

Sorry. More than you asked. But this is something I have been doing a lot to learn about. My favorite is MacAllan scotch whisky. I have a dozen different types of that on the shelf, each for a specific mood. Including a couple bottles of this...

yeah, agree on the alcohol percentage. I tend to water down the stronger single malt scotch whiskys to ~40-45% abv. Stronger than that feels like it actually makes it harder to feel nuances in taste imho.

I bought an Indian whisky once, Amrut, mainly for the novelty. From what they claimed, they actually couldn't mature it for more than I think seven years or something, due to the local climate in Bangalore. The 'Angel's Share' simply became too much and the whisky to weak, they said. I remember the taste as light, maybe a bit grassy in a nice way. Would not hesitate to drink it again if offered, but not worth the premium price to buy. I'd rather go for Japanese in that case.

The Swedes at Mackmyra has made quite a few variant of their whisky, sadly they went into bankrupcy recently but rumour is that some company will or already have bought them up and will continue to produce. I read up on their whiskys a few years ago, and the opinion then was that many of the bottlings were not really that interesting, good but not very good. But some were highly recommended so I bought one of them, and it was nice, though a bit expensive for what it was.

Also tasted a Finnish one (Teerenpeli), again fun but probably not one I will buy again. While a Welsh one (one of the Penderyn Gold ones, maybe the madeira cask?) was excellent and definitely on my list.

I used to have a whisky selection of 25+ bottles, but that was about ten years ago...

half the time have no idea what they feel or what they want
I will forever maintain that when you meet a woman - exert all your charm - buy her dinner / drinks and are on your best, most impressive behavior, that you may have spent hours trying to get her into bed - never knowing that she decided that 5 minutes after meeting you. All the rest is just you trying to find out her decision.

Certainly I'm not trying to rile anyone up here.
In some countries prostitution is legal and regulated, and hopefully that affords the prostitutes a better working condition. It's my opinion that other countries don't legalize it more because of the salacious nature of it, and not to protect women. (Protecting women gets a lot more lip service than action in so many developed countries.) It's not called the world's oldest profession for nothing. There's a demand for commercial sex, and where there's a demand there will be sellers.
It's good that you (and hopefully many others) are aware of how commercial sex can wear down the soul. It's not a lifetime career I hope, but like doing porn, it's something some people decide they can do and like the money.
Damn, that got a life of its own xD
I think it is like with other jobs, there are the dark sites and the light sites, though in those businesses the dark sites may be more prevalent then in many other jobs.
Nothing generally wrong with it tho and it should not always be seen as "Its money and they can get over their aversion... there ARE people that like doing it.

(Also, always fun the "oldest profession" thing, considering its not even close to being the olders profession. :D

One thing I learned in my life, any job dealing with the public sucks ass. Customers suck. At least if you're a pimp and they piss you off you can bitch-slap them. Well, I mean you CAN bitch slap them in any job, but other than that one you won't have it long after...

I heard the Japanese can make a good whisky, but the ones I bought don't strike my fancy. If you know a good one to try, I'd appreciate it.

I have 30-40 bottles in my collection, but only really like the MacAllans I have. I don't drink the whisky nearly as fast as I collect it. Perhaps I should try harder :)

Whats the oldest profession?
Well, for one it depends on how "Profession" is defined, but it is hard to say with certainty anyway, it is just too far in the past :D probably something like Tool Maker though. (Or gatherer if we go for a wider definition :D)

Having grown up here, I find difficult answering these, since they are the "default" for me. But I guess we have a love of slapstick comedy, with dumb, cheap jokes and overall silly things.
We don't have much "adult" comedies like American Pie nowadays, but before porn was mainstream here, there was a genre of movies called pornochanchada (porn light comedy) which combined porn/erotica and comedy (it's older than me, so I don't really know how it is. Hahaha)
Trivia: There at least 2 (I thought it was more, but didn't find it) recent brazilian comedy movies that had Korean remakes. I find it funny, because usually
It seems that the only real difference in the comedy really is likely cultural and if you understand someone culture then the comedy can be made funny but I guess we are like you guys, we don't have those American Pie or Ace Ventura Pet Detective style comedies, but I watch them on sky TV like netflix or our version, and they are in English. Japanede sub titles annoy me and the dubs are terible so I never bother with them
Sounds like you are combining two different shows,
1726906965986.png
which was about 4 space aliens who come to earth and pretend to be humans
1726907049149.png
which is the one with the scientist geeks you talk about
O yeah. Big Bang Theory. This is a good show. I think they stopped making it these days? The repeats are fun. I never liked 3rd Rock from the Sun. I seen maybe couple times but never was interested. So you still watch these programs or is there different ones these days?
Everyplace has its kirks, that's normal. But for terror movies, there are some asian movies on another level!

No, it's not a style, and more a joke, to say you will enjoy the rest of the day. You can use Segundou (Mondayed), but it will have a complete different meaning, in this case, it is Monday again :(
Portuguese is somewhat close to Spanish, and when we pretend to speak the other without knowing the language, we say we speak Portunhol (Português + Espanhol, Portuguese + Spanish).
Yes, I agree, Horror movies seems now to be best in the Asian world, and Japanese Horror is consider about the best in the world so far. Hollywood lost the plot and is too much CGI crazy and the scriptwriters need to be sent to writing school. Just terrible plots lol. Korea is also make some decent Horror and you should check out the Chinese. They are doing good job these days.

O ok, it sounds bit complicated. We just have one word for Monday ect. Never any other added part and the usual day greetings. Portuguese sounds bit more involved with seems to be many changes to one certain words can change its meaning. I don't know if Spanish is this way but even Spanish have verbs of motion and so on. Much more involved than even English and it is a beautiful language. Very poetic and passion in many ways.

There is a Chinese alcohol I want for the pure novelty, done by the grandson of the gentleman who created General Tsos chicken. But I'm not enough into alcohol to actually look for it.

Your whole HD get fried up? That sucks.
I lost two HDs last year, thankfully one was just porn and was in warranty, so I got another for free and just download it again. The second one was full of personal stuff, now lost forever... 😢
I feel you. My old phone's microSD card got corrupted and I lost many personal pictures, such as my late dog's and I kept them nowhere else...

I've had Chinese beer, while in China, but never hard alcohol. I didn't realize that a Chinese person crated General Tso's chicken (a favorite of mine). I assumed that was a western creation. Now I'm interested in Chinese alcohol. I'll have to look into that, thanks!

Now I'm regretting being away for so long. Do you know in what page of the thread this "pokemusu" theme started or where I could do some "research" on these creatures?

My significant other has been on an Asian horror kick lately. Train to Busan is a favorite atm. Personally I'm not into it, but I'm not going to stop them from enjoying it.

There is a western documentary searching for general tso which talks about this. Now the current general tsos is more American, but it's origin is in tawain.

It is up there with gathering (tho gathering probably precedes hunting) if you go for a "loose" defintion of "Profession" :D
