I would say that I prefer 3DCG, but any other good art style will always be way better than bad 3DCG

I usually prefer 3DCG but there is nothing better than well drawn pictures.

Hand-drawn can be super good, if done right, sadly there are not that many games that actually do have "good" art, i guess its preference in the end but it does feel like that to me.

Hand-drawn is certainly my preferance, but CG is pretty good also. Each has their own merits and if you're good at it, it doesn't really matter.

The only style i don't really like is AI. It's just soulless to me. I can see it being a good tool for background or item generation, but for characters, not so much.

It really depends on the game I'm playing. In general I would choose 3dcg simply because i like the way that the models look; but certain games really need that 2d drawing to really convey the feel of the game they were going for.

i like all type of art styles, however, i like 3dcg the most.

Hand-drawn for me I have yet to see a game incorporate AI but im hoping that it will really good.

I usually go for 3D but I sometimes play games with other styles if I find them to my liking.

I believe AI has lots of potential. Most the AI ones seem kinda cookie cutter and similar in terms of artwork rn, but imo people are using it bc they feel it saves them time on putting together good visual scenes. If devs spent as much time on hashing it out like they would daz hs etc, I think it would be top tier.

Whatever the dev / author can get away with. While AI can look a little same-y hopefully it does mean that people with good ideas but no artistic ability can jump in and create their perfect game.

As long as it's looking good and fitting into the game i don't really mind.
Hand drawing is the hardest to perfect but also shows the work someone put into the game.
If it fits into the game then that's a big green flag.
With AI it first feels like there has to be no real work put into creating them but then again. There are those creators that create an AI image and take the first that fits and there are those that create 1000 to get the perfect one.
Even if it's AI art thats by no meens a red flag for me. I always try to look at how much a game dev appreaciates not only his but also our time and values their own work.

Hand-drawn has the best potential, with 3DCG having more consistency throughout. Hand-drawn has a big negative if the team loses an artist, then they have to hire another artist with either a similar style or they have to learn the other artist's style, leading to at minimum a visible change in the art in future updates. 3DCG suffers from a lot of samey characterization, which can lead to characters looking too similar in some cases. AI has potential if it can be made consistent, but usually lacks animation quality.

3dcg is always a good choice and makes for some stunning renders, even renders from older games look semi realistic
But I also really like hand drawn, the characters can look more cartoony, which allows for more creativity as no two hand drawn games have the same artstyles

3dcg is the best for AVNs imo, hand drawn looks nice when done well but just takes to long to get updates out and and also harder to replace an artist if needed

Is good art style a decent response?

My main problem with hand-drawn is that it's usually in a completely different style than the game itself (at least for sandbox games).

There are loads of half-assed AI/3dcg games out there. Don't really like them either.

But there are amazing games that use the same original style of hand-drawn art throughout. And some creators are really nailing AI, and the best 3dcg games are amazing.

i prefer well done daz models to well done hs models personally. they just look better imo

Koikatsu most of the time.
Though renders done like in Corruption Time by FilthySloth is pretty neat, shame it's abandoned.

Personally I like every style. I have a preference for 3dcg. But the number of 3dcg game with bad art is also pretty high. So any art style as long as it's look good work for me

Gotta be boring and say the same as the majority : good (and consistent) art trumps specific method. And generic renders gets boring.

Actually, I'm at the point where I limit the number of HoneySelect-ish games I play, because I kind of get burned out on the look of them. Even if the characters might be made to look different, many dev's use the standard poses or very small variations of them.

Even Eternum, a high-effort game that I dearly love, have at least a few renders where I immediately feel that I have seen this pose about a hundred times before.

DAZ of course can fall victim to this too. Sometimes it might seem like half of all the female characters must be related when one looks at the faces.
One game that imho really avoids this in a good way and make the characters look individual is Photo Hunt, where I would almost say that the artist have managed to push the faces slightly towards the cartoonish but without going to far. Or frased in another way, the features of the characters looks a bit like if they were drawn by a cartoon artist, with some features very slighly exaggerated. In a good way. I really hope the artist/s for Photo Hunt continues with many more games.
